Essential Qualification:
M.Phil. in Clinical Psychology or Rehabilitation Psychology from an institution recognized by the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI) with First Class or equivalent, with a valid registration number under the Central Rehabilitation Register (CRR).
(The qualification may be relaxed for deserving candidates).
Minimum: Minimum 1 year of relevant experience in psychological/clinical services, counselling, assessment or mental-health settings.
Age limit: Preferably below 40 years
Skills Required:
- Professional competence in psychological assessment, counselling and evidence-based psychological interventions.
- Ability to work with young adults and address common concerns including academic stress, anxiety, depression, adjustment difficulties, interpersonal concerns and emotional distress.
- Competence in crisis intervention, risk assessment and appropriate referral for cases requiring psychiatric or specialised clinical services.
- Strong interpersonal, communication and rapport-building skills, with a non-judgmental and culturally sensitive approach.
- Ability to maintain professional confidentiality, ethical standards and appropriate clinical documentation.
- Ability to work collaboratively with psychiatrists, medical professionals, faculty members and the Institute's Mental Health and Counselling Services Cell.
- Experience in conducting mental-health awareness, psychoeducation and preventive mental-health programmes will be desirable.
Job Description
- Conduct appropriate psychological screening and assessment and identify concerns requiring further professional intervention or referral.
- Provide professional psychological therapeutic sessions, counselling and psychosocial support to students and other eligible members of the Institute community.
- Provide individual counselling for various personal and academic/professional concerns such as academic stress, adjustment difficulties, anxiety, low mood, interpersonal difficulties, grief, emotional distress, and other common psychosocial concerns.
- Undertake crisis assessment and immediate psychological support, including appropriate risk assessment and referral in situations requiring psychiatric or emergency intervention.
- Maintain confidential and professionally appropriate records of psychological services, in accordance with applicable professional and institutional requirements.
- Develop and implement mental-health awareness, psychoeducation, and preventive programmes for students, faculty, and staff.
- Conduct programmes on areas such as stress management, coping, resilience, emotional regulation, interpersonal relationships, examination stress, and psychological well-being.
- Maintain an appropriate referral network with psychiatrists, hospitals, mental-health professionals, and other relevant healthcare services.
- Coordinate with relevant Institute authorities regarding mental-health initiatives while maintaining appropriate professional confidentiality.
- Participate in faculty/staff sensitisation and gatekeeper programmes to improve early identification and appropriate referral of students experiencing psychological difficulties.
