Birla Institute of Technology (Deemed to be University) Mesra is inviting applications from bright, qualified and experienced candidates for recruitment to the post of Finance Officer at BIT Mesra Main Campus in Ranchi.

Educational and other qualifications required

Essential-

First class in UG/PG degree, master’s degree preferably in Commerce / Business Administration in Finance with at least 55% marks, OR Chartered Accountant (CA) / Cost Accountant (ICWA).

[AND]

At least 15 years of relevant experience in finance, accounts or audit in Central/State Government, Autonomous Bodies, PSUs, Universities / Higher Educational Institutions or reputed organizations, out of which minimum 10 years should be in a senior supervisory/managerial position (Deputy Registrar (Finance)/ Deputy Officer (Finance) or equivalent) in Level 12.         

OR

Twelve (12) years of experience in financial management and accounting in a senior managerial position in industry/corporate sector/autonomous organization/public sector undertaking with proven track record, provided the candidate possesses professional qualification (CA/ICWA).

Desirable:

  • Professional qualification such as CA/ICWA/MBA in Finance
  • Experience in handling accounts of educational institutions/universities
  • Familiarity with UGC regulations and government financial rules
  • Proficiency in accounting software and ERP system

Mandatory Qualities: Disciplined, ethical, punctual and knowledgeable person of impeccable integrity and willingness to learn and adapt.

Job Description

Overall charge of finance and accounts of the Institute-

  • Preparation and monitoring of annual budget and financial plans.
  • Maintenance of accounts, financial statements and internal controls.
  • Ensuring compliance with statutory requirements including audit, taxation and financial reporting.
  • Management of grants, funds, investments and banking operations.
  • Monitoring and controlling institutional expenditure
  • Scrutinize and vet financial proposals, tenders, contracts and MoUs from a financial perspective.
  • Provide financial input for policy formulation, new academic programs, infrastructure projects and strategic initiatives.
  •  Supervise establishment-related financial matters including payroll, pensions, gratuity, EPF, advances and retirement benefits.
  • Lead and manage the Finance & Accounts staff, ensuring capacity building and efficient workflow
  • Oversee implementation and operation of ERP / accounting software and promote digitization of financial processes
  • Oversee internal and external audits to ensure the integrity of the Institute’s financial records.
  • Any other duties assigned under the Statutes of the Institute.

General Conditions

  • The appointment shall be governed by the UGC Regulations and the Statutes of BIT Mesra.
  • The Institute reserves the right to relax eligibility criteria in exceptional cases with the approval of the Competent Authority.
  • Mere eligibility does not guarantee selection.
