Appointment for the post of Security Officer and Assistant Security Officer (on contract) at BIT Main Campus, Mesra, Ranchi and BIT Off Campus Deoghar

Eligibility: The candidate should be an Ex-Serviceman not below the rank of Subedar (Army) or equivalent rank from the Navy (Chief Petty Officer) or Air Force (Warrant Officer), with a minimum of 20 years of relevant service experience, preferably with exposure to administrative and security-related duties. Computer and digital infrastructure/ device literacy is a must.

Educational Qualification: The individual must possess a Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university and demonstrate a strong track record in managing personnel, enforcing discipline, and handling security operations.

Desirable: Experience of minimum 5 years in any educational Institution similar to BIT Mesra. The candidate must be in SHAPE-1 or SHAPE-2 medical category and be in good physical condition to perform duties involving supervision, patrolling, and emergency response.

Preferred age limit: Below 58 Years

Job responsibilities:

Overseeing and ensuring the safety and security of students, faculty, staff, and assets across the university premises. This role involves developing and implementing comprehensive security protocols, coordinating with local law enforcement and emergency services, managing surveillance systems, supervising security personnel, and conducting regular risk assessments. The officer must proactively address potential security threats, ensure compliance with legal and institutional policies, and maintain a secure and welcoming environment that supports the university's academic mission and operational needs.

Eligibility: The candidate should be an Ex-Serviceman not below the rank of Naib Subedar (Army) or its equivalent rank in the Navy (Petty Officer) or Air Force (Sergeant), with at least 10 years of experience in active service, particularly in supervisory, security, or administrative roles. Computer and digital infrastructure/ device literacy is a must.

Educational Qualification: A Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university is desirable, though candidates with strong service records and relevant training may also be considered.

Desirable: Experience of minimum 2 years in any educational Institution similar to BIT Mesra. The candidate must be in SHAPE-1 or SHAPE-2 medical category and be in good physical condition to perform duties involving supervision, patrolling, and emergency response.

Preferred age limit: Below 45 years

Job responsibilities:

Support the Security Officer in maintaining the overall safety and security of the university community, including students, faculty, staff, and property across all campuses and outreach locations. Responsibilities include supervising security personnel, monitoring surveillance systems, assisting in the enforcement of security protocols, and responding to incidents or emergencies promptly and effectively. The role also involves coordinating daily operations, conducting routine inspections, preparing security reports, and supporting the implementation of risk mitigation strategies.

GENERAL CONDITIONS:

  1. Before applying for the post, candidates should ensure that he fulfils the minimum eligibility and other criteria mentioned in this job notification. Institute will be free to reject any application, if the candidate is found ineligible for the post for which he has applied at any stage of the selection process. No correspondence shall be entertained in this regard.

 

  1. Incomplete applications, or applications received after the due date are liable to be rejected summarily.

 

  1. The prescribed qualification / experience is the minimum and mere possession of the same does not entitle a candidate for shortlisting and or final selection. Candidates will be shortlisted based on the relevance and quality of experience vis-à-vis the requirements of the advertised role. The Institute’s decision shall be final in this regard.
  2. Only shortlisted candidates who are found prima facie eligible based on the details given in the application will be called for the written test and / or personal interview as the case may be.
  3. Candidature of the applicant is liable to be rejected at any stage of the selection process or after selection or joining, if any information provided by the candidate is found to be false or is not found in conformity with eligibility criteria mentioned in the advertisement.
  4.  The Institute reserves the right to relax age in case of candidates with longer years of experience/ in case of exceptionally qualified or experienced candidates.
  5. The Institute reserves the right to fill or not to fill all or any of the advertised positions without assigning any reason whatsoever.
  6. Any canvassing directly or indirectly by the applicant will disqualify his candidature. Any dispute with regard to the selection process against this Internal job notification will be settled within the jurisdiction of the Court / Tribunal over Ranchi only.
  7. The number of vacancies is indicative. The Institute reserves the right to increase or decrease the number of vacancies purely on need basis at any point of time.
  8. The location/ place of posting mentioned are indicative, selected candidate shall be required to work in any campus of the Institute.
  9. In respect of exceptionally qualified and experienced candidates the minimum overall years of experience as prescribed, may be relaxed at the sole discretion of the Institute.
  10. All qualifications, where applicable, should be from AICTE / UGC recognized / affiliated institutes / colleges / universities. Candidates. In the event where the qualification acquired is not found to be recognized by AICTE/UGC post selection, the appointment shall be terminated without further notice.
  11. The job description mentioned above is only indicative. It may vary based on the requirement of the Institute and discretion of the Institute.

Application fee of Rs. 1000/- + GST 18 %.

 

     Check-list of documents to be submitted along with the application:

  1. Filled-in downloaded application form in the prescribed format.
  2. Latest Passport size colour photograph.
  3. Attested copies of all certificates, mark sheets from SSC/HSC/Matriculation onwards.
  4. Attested copies of any other relevant certificates / testimonials.
  5. Attested copies of caste certificates for (SC/ST), certificates issued by the competent authorities.
  6. Photocopy of self-attested Discharge Book.
