“Business Plan Competition 2022”
21st August 2022

Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC-BIT Mesra) in collaboration with Entrepreneurship Development Cell (EDC) and Finance Club (FC) has organized a “Business Plan Competition 2022” on 21st August 2022 on the occasion of “World Entrepreneurs Day”. This business plan competition aims to identify the entrepreneurial bent of mind of BIT students in different domains of business and allied disciplines were presented their business idea plans. In this event the total 14 teams registered from BIT Mesra and off campuses. All the teams were presented their business plan idea and after that 6 teams were qualified for the next round the coming event i.e.  “BIT NIHSAN” it’s a technology innovation context and its kind to provide seed funding to home startups. Students from Mesra and Lalpur presented their pitches in offline mode while participants from other campuses joined online to share their ideas. The Inauguration program kickstarted at 10.am 21.08.22. The hosts for the ceremony were the students’ coordinators who welcomed the dignitaries. Mr. Vishal H. Shah, Faculty Advisor of EDC briefed about the competition to the audience. Dr. K. Shridhar Patnaik, Associate Dean (SA) & Convener of IIC- BIT addressed the important of this Business event competition followed by Dr. Bhaskar Karan, Dean of Student Affairs who motivated the participants to take part in the event. The vote of thanks given by Dr. Anand Prasad Sinha, Co-Convener (IIC-BIT) and faculty advisor Finance Club conveyed the closing remarks in the ceremony and thanked all the participants as well as the panel of judges too.

Institution's Innovation Council Regional Meet

2^nd August 2022

Ministry of Education Innovation Cell & All India Council of Technical Education, New Delhi has organized an Institution's Innovation Council Regional Meet at Guru Nanak Institute of Technology, Kolkata on 2nd August 2022.

Around 350 IIC Members from 115 Higher Education Institutions from Eastern Zone has participated for the Knowledge sharing part and the Innovation and Poster Exhibition. In this regional meet BIT Mesra, Ranchi has got one of the Best Creative Posters awards on their institution's innovation & Entrepreneurship Journey/Achievement.

We would like to give special thanks to the individual Track Speakers of the event and to the Gurunanak Institute of Technology for hosting during the event, and furthermore to the effective organizing teams of it who did outstanding work in organizing the event. IIC- Slogan Competition
Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav -17th August 2022

The Institute’s Innovation Council, BIT Mesra organized "Slogan Competition" on 17th August 2022 to honor the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav along with the journey of Innovation in India. The theme for this year was Achievements@75: Research, Innovation and Entrepreneurial Excellence of Independent India. The slogans were invited from the faculties and students to celebrate Innovation & Entrepreneurship in HEIs for Atmanirbhar Bharat & Celebrating 75 years of Independence. In Total, 16 entries were received out of which three winners each in Faculty and Student category were selected. Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC-BIT Mesra) organized a “Patriotic Song Competition” which was held on 17.08.22 in CAT Hall on the occasion of Atmanirbhar Bharat & Celebrating 75 years of Independence for BIT Mesra students and University of Polytechnics. In this “Patriotic Song Competition” the total participant is 15 and some ward of faculty members has performed group dance in patriotic Song also.

IIC-Essay Writing Competition on “Innovations and Entrepreneurship in Higher Education Institutes” was organized by IIC -BIT MESRA on 16th August 2022, in which a good number of faculty and students UG, PG and PhD were participated. Dr. Vijay Nath, Associate Professor, Dept. of ECE, was the Program Coordinator & IIC Member; Prof. C. Jeganathan, Dean-RIE & President IIC-BIT and Dr. K. S. Patnaik, Convenor IIC supported the program to make success. IIC-Essay Writing Competition on Innovations and Entrepreneurship present their views very nicely and expert team evaluated their writeup and three best candidates from UG, PG and PhD were awarded with Goodies and Certificates. All the participants get the participation certificate. Program was ended with Certificate Distribution Ceremony, group photographs and vote of thanks by Dr. Niraj Kumar Singh. World Environment Day Celebration

5th June, 2022

The Institution's Innovation Council (IIC), in collaboration with the National Service Scheme and EPAC, Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra, celebrated World Environment Day on 5th June, 2022. The entire event was divided into three significant drives, namely Awareness Drive, Plantation Drive, and Cleanliness Drive.

World Earth Day Celebration at BIT Mesra Ranchi

22nd April 2022

Institution’s Innovation Council BIT Mesra celebrated the World Earth Day, with full enthusiasm and deliverables. The event was organized for a full one-week celebration which started on 18th April to 22^nd April 2022 with a competition of River Mapping on Indian Map for BIT Staff wards juniors and on World Map for seniors. The second day was a painting contest for the BIT students and they very beautifully picturized on Soil and Water Conservation. The third day was slogan competition and a one-minute video completion where children showed how they are conserving. Our Earth and what message they want to deliver to others. The fourth day was for Waste to Warrior Challenge where participants showcased how from waste, we can make some artifacts and utilize waste. The final day was the celebration of Earth Day with Plantation of Ashoka Tree at the boundary of the BIT Mesra near hostel no.9.

“30 Hours Non-Credit Workshop on Strategic Finance”

29th January, 2022 -9^th April 2022

Finance Club of Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra, in collaboration with the Institution's Innovation Council (IIC, BIT Mesra), conducted the inauguration ceremony for the “30 Hours Non-Credit Workshop on Strategic Finance” on 29th January, 2022 via online platform Microsoft Teams.

• The inauguration ceremony witnessed more than 500 participants actively partaking in the event which served to encourage them to attend the workshop, as well, which saw a massive  registration drive with more than 700 confirmed entries.

• The chief guest of the evening Mrs. Bala Kumari, Deputy General Manager, SEBI, Ranchi  who lifted the curtains and inaugurated the opening ceremony for the workshop. In her opening    speech she talked about importance of investing and how the knowledge of finance helps us get
  a kickstart in the field of trading.
• The Guest of honor, reputed Colonel Sukhpal Singh Khetarpal (Retd.), Registrar of Birla     Institute of Technology, Mesra, with exemplary interpersonal and leadership skills, a positive     administration style delivered the keynote address which further motivated the attendees. He  emphasized on the idea of inducing financial awareness in every student and how the knowledge     of these little things can help us take meaningful decisions and lead a successful financial life.      
• Dr. C. Jeganathan, Dean of Research, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship, Dr. A.N.Jha, Professor, Management Department, BIT Mesra, Associate Dean (SA)Dr. K. Sridhar  Patnaik, Dean of Alumni Relations Mr. Vishal H. Shah, and Associate Professor  Dr. Vijay Nath  shared their thoughts on the goal and approach and the motive of the workshop, which is  methodically structured in a format for gradual and stepwise progression from the fundamentals to enigmatic financial topics like taxation management, and various finance software’s.

INTERNAL HACKATHON FOR SMART INDIA HACKATHON 2022

14th March, 2022 , BIT Mesra, RANCHI

Internal Hackathon for SIH2022 was held on 14th March,2022 in the Department of CSE, BIT Mesra. Chief Guest for the inaugural session was Prof C. Jeganathan, Dean, Research, Innovation and Entrepreneurship, BIT Mesra. SPOC Dr. K.Sridhar Patnaik and the Chief Guest inaugurated the Internal hackathon followed by institute prayer. Total 19 teams registered, out of which 16 teams participated physically. Total 29 female participants presented the idea along with 67 male members.

ENIGMA 
(Technical Case Study Competition)
(26.02.22)

Institute Innovation Council (IIC-BIT) collaboration with the Finance Club and Robolution Club of BIT Mesra organized a Technical Case Study Competition “ENIGMA” on 26.02.22 in the eve of National Science Day. This event challenges and provides a platform to the students to showcase their strategic, technical and business acumen.

The details of the competition are as follows:

• The competition consisted of two phases. The first phase consisted of a quiz on the basis of current general knowledge areas and the second phase consisted of a case study presentation on a particular topic in the field of EV & Block chain Technology.  Total 80 teams were participated from all top colleges in India like IIT, IIM, XLRI, BIT Mesra NITIE Mumbai, VIT Chennai, DEEN collage New Delhi etc. Round one of the competitions was conducted successfully on 24th February via Google form & D2C platform, in which 15 teams were qualified for the 2nd round for final technical case study presentation. The final team list has mentioned below.

• Dr. C Jeganathan, Dean RIE and President (IIC) addressed the important of this technical case study event, followed by Dr. Anand Kumar Sinha, Dean of Student Affairs and Vice President (IIC-BIT).
• The Chief guest of this event ‘Enigma’ Prof. Indranil Manna, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, BIT Mesra who motivated the participants to take part in the such case solving event.
• The event’s Guest of Honor, Col. Sukhpal S Khetrapal, Registrar, BIT Mesra, addressed the participants.
• The Finalist who managed to get the podium position in the event were from IIM Bangalore got -1^st Prize, BIT Mesra-2^nd Prize, NITIE, Mumbai-3^rd Prize; & 2- Consolation prizes has been given for better question & answer round. i.e 1. VIT Chennai & 2. NITITE Mumbai.

Finance Club of BIT Mesra association with Institution’s Innovation Council BIT Mesra has magnificently conducted the event "Quizance" a business case competition. In this event two rounds were conducted on 22^nd December'21 and 23^rd December'21 respectively. With over 200+ registered teams and 300+ participants, the event turned out to be a huge success. The event was organized by the club’s executive members under the guidance of Dr. Anand Prasad Sinha, Faculty Advisor & Co-Convenor of IIC BIT Mesra Ranchi, The First Round consisted of a quiz that carried MCQs. Top eight erudite teams which was nominated for their performance to advance for the final round were:

For the final round teams participated in a mind-bending quiz. Some mind-blowing questions were put forward and the smart talents from all across the country tried their best to answer them using their intellect.  Participants maneuvered the core ethics of business and finance.

The Institution’s Innovation Council of BIT Mesra, in association with Entrepreneurship Development Cell (EDC) and Finance Club, organized the two-day event, BIT NISHAN (Neoteric, Intelligent, Scientific, Harmonious, Adaptive, Novelty), from 23rd-24th October 2021. BIT NISHAN is the first-ever initiative of its kind to provide seed funding to home startups run by students and faculty of BIT Mesra (and off-campus). The event commenced on 23rd October, 2021 and was inaugurated by the Vice-Chancellor of BIT Mesra, Dr. Indranil Manna, among the presence of the other dignitaries. Dean of Research, Innovation & Entrepreneurship, Dr. C. Jeganathan, presented the welcome address, followed by the Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. Anand Kumar Sinha’s talk on BIT NISHAN. the final round of BIT NISHAN held on 24th October, 2021.

The event was followed by an introduction of the judging panel. The judges included some eminent names like Mrs. Nivedita Jena - Nodal officer of the Startup Odisha at ILS, leader, researcher and a renowned name in the startup ecosystem of India. Mr. Gyanendra Nath – Director of HAGS Enterprise Pvt Ltd, Former Senior Vice President and Project Owner at Balasore Alloys Ltd and former Vice President at Jindal Steel and Power Ltd. & Dr. Anup Kumar Srivastava – Managing director of Aspen Research Services Pvt Ltd., Member of National Accreditation Board of Education and Training and Quality Council of India. The experts also included members of faculty from BIT Mesra; the comprised the executive committee of BIT NISHAN. The team officials were then introduced and gave a brief account of their ideas. More than 30+ ideas were presented in the first round of the event, out of which the top 20 ideas will get the opportunity to pitch.
