About
The Aerospace Society was formed last year with the aim to raise awareness and igniting interest in the field of aviation and aerodynamics. We are an interdisciplinary organization of students whose mission is to innovate, learn by applying theoretical concepts and create attractive opportunities for research and interaction with industry professionals.
The society is an umbrella organization, under which student teams participate in various national competitions, representing the institute. Team Taevas, participates in the contentious SAE Aero Design Challenge. It is a student competition that challenges participating teams to conceive, design, fabricate, and test a radio controlled aircraft that can take off, land, and optimally meet the mission requirements. This exercise allows students to apply knowledge gained in the classroom in a real work environment and get hands-on experience with the latest software used in the industry. We also have more teams under the society, which participates in student design competitions like Boeing-IIT Aeromodelling competition, Water Rocket challenge by Technoxian and Quadcopter challenge by Technoxian. In the future, we also have plans to participate in the competitions organized by DRDO and other rocketry engineering competitions.
The objectives of the Society also includes promoting research and organising workshops and seminars on various trending topics. This academic year (2020-21), we have started a one of a kind series, called Aero Talks, where scientists and faculty from distinguished organisations like ISRO, DRDO and top technical institutions around the world are invited to speak to our students. The first speaker in this series was Mr.Mohan Prasath (ISRO Scientist F, Vikram Sarabhai Center), who is our college’s alumni, spoke on the topic “Launch Vehicle Aerodynamics”. We will continue this series by organising more such sessions throughout the academic year. We also aim to develop the students’ soft skills like teamwork, project management, communication skills and along with the technical skills to create a community of professional students, ready to take up new challenges and bring laurels to the institute and our country.
Message from Faculty Advisor
The Aerospace Society was formed with a vision to incultate the ideas of aerospace into the students of undergraduate and postgraduate. The students have a very high potential to excel in the field to Aerospace. The society aims to extract those innovative ideas and put it on to the right platform so that the strength of the students could be well recognized. The society also aims to have a massive interaction of the students with the industry experts so that the requirement of the industries could be well understood for the development of products. It is expected that students of this society get a prior exposure of the industry requirement and prepare themselves accordingly.
