Dr. Dusmanta Kumar Mohanta received the B.Sc. Eng. (Electrical) degree from the College of Engineering and Technology, Bhubaneswar, India; the M.E. degree from Birla Institute of Technology (BIT), Ranchi, India; and the Ph.D. Eng. degree from Jadavpur University, Kolkata, India. He was an Electrical Engineer with the Captive Power Plant, National Aluminum Company (NALCO), Angul, India from 1991-1998. He is currently a Professor with the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, BIT, Mesra. He has more than 19 years of teaching experience in addition to his industrial experience of 8 years
He has published more than 170 papers in international journal and conference proceedings, out of which 77 are international papers of repute. He is currently an Editor of the Electric Power Components & Systems Journal(Taylor & Francis Publications), Associate Editor, IET Generation, Transmission & Distribution; Associate Editor, IEEE Access; GEIC, IET Special issue on 'Emerging Trends in SIPS for Improving the Performance of Smart Grid' Additionally, he has served as Editorial Board Member for a number of journals, including Electric Power Components & Systems (Taylor & Francis Publications, since 2008), the International Journal of Power Engineering (Hindawi Publications), an Associate Editor of International Journal of Power and Energy Systems (ACTA Press) (February 2010-2012), Editorial Board Member of International Journal of Renewable Energy Technology (Inderscience Publications, during 2009). He has also served as reviewer for IEEE Transactions on Power system, IEEE Transactions on Energy Conversion, IEEE Transactions on Evolutionary computations, IEEE Transactions on Reliability, IEEE Transactions on Fuzzy Logic, International Journal on Renewable energy Technology, Power System and Components( Taylor & Francis), etc. To his credit, he has more reviewed more than 150 papers for transactions).
Prof. Mohanta has a dynamic professional exposure. He has been a Senior Member of IEEE(USA) since 2010, a Member, IEEE PES RRPA subcommittee, a Member of Working Group for IEEE P2030.4™ - Guide for Control and Automation Installations Applied to the Electric Power Infrastructure (Guide for Smart Grid Interoperability of Energy Technology and Information Technology Operation with the Electric Power System and End-Use Applications, and Loads), a Member of Working Group meeting for IEEE P3004.8 RP for Motor Protection in the Industrial & Commercial Power Systems, a Member of IEEE Task Force on "Reliability Impacts of Demand Response Integration (RIDRI), a Fellow, Institution of Engineers (India) and a life member of ISTE, India.
Prof. Mohanta has supervised six PhDs and more than 30 M. Tech students. He has published 5 book chapters with Springer and CRC Press (Taylor & Francis Publications). He has edited a book entitled ‘Synchronized Phasor Measurements for Smart Grids’ published by IET (UK). He has two patents to his credit.
