International Research Collaboration with Ulster University, Northern Ireland
I served as a Co-Investigator in the international research project titled “Digital Twin-Based Process Monitoring System for Laser Directed Energy Deposition Process,” funded under the International Science Partnership Fund (ISPF) by the Department for the Economy, Northern Ireland (DfE: NI), UK. The project received a total funding of £354,189, with Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra participating as a key collaborating institution.
The project start date was 19th August 2024 and end date 31st March 2025, and focused on the development of an AI-integrated digital twin framework for real-time process monitoring and optimization in Laser Directed Energy Deposition (L-DED)—an advanced additive manufacturing technique. The research successfully combined artificial intelligence, process modeling, and simulation to enhance precision and control in manufacturing applications.
Collaborating Institutions and Key Investigators:
- Ulster University, Northern Ireland (Lead Institution)
- Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra, India
- Dr. Sang Won Park, Gyeongsang National University, South Korea
- Dr. Jaehyeok Doh, School of Aerospace Engineering, Gyeongsang National University, South Korea
As part of the project, I visited Ulster University, Londonderry, from 11th to 15th November 2024, to participate in the Post-Project Acceptance Workshop. The visit, fully funded by the project, enabled collaborative review of outcomes, exchange of knowledge, and discussions on future avenues for joint research.
