BIT Jaipur Achievement: Launch of "Introduction to Photoshop 2023"

We are proud to announce a significant milestone for BIT Jaipur with the release of the book "Introduction to Photoshop 2023"—a comprehensive guide to mastering digital design and creative editing.

 About the Book
Co-authored by Mr. Manish Kumar (Assistant Professor, Animation & Multimedia Dept., BIT Jaipur) and Dr. Amita Raj Goyal (Associate Professor, Dept. of Drawing & Painting, Rajasthan University), this book serves as a valuable resource for students, designers, and digital artists navigating the world of Adobe Photoshop.

Achievement: Special Jury Mention Award at Jaipur International Film Festival 2025

We are proud to share that short animation film 'Sanvedana' has once again received the prestigious Special Jury Mention Award at the Jaipur International Film Festival 2025.

The film is a result of the incredible creativity and hard work of very talented animation team. Written by Tapan Bhatt, directed by Abhilasha Bharatiya (Alumini BIT Mesra, Jaipur Campus) , and edited by Swapnil Tank, 'Sanvedana' showcases the collaborative brilliance of our students and mentors.

Award-Winning Student Work

  1. Three Students (Karnika Khipal, Urshita Tandon, Rachna Ragupati) from M.Sc. Animation Design and Two students (Ayush Agarwal, Arpit Verma) from B.Sc. Animation & Multimedia completed successfully an internship program of three months at iHab Drishti Foundation, IIT Jodhpur during the summer vacations, 2024. 

  2. Kabeer Kaushik, student from B.Sc. Animation& Multimedia, Semester-IV got 2nd Prize in Film Making Competition and 3rd Prize in Solo Musical Drum competition at IIT Bombay during the youth festival- Mood Indigo.
  3. The Department of Animation & Multimedia participated in the DIC MEET-24 at IIT Hyderabad. During the event, we showcased our latest collaborative project with NCERT New Delhi, featuring a series of 10 short films on Critical Life Skills. Our students, Karnika Kshipal and Diotima Mondal (M.Sc. Animation Design), represented for this event.

  1. The following animated short film projects, created for NCERT, New Delhi, were successfully completed by students from the Animation & Multimedia Department, under the expert guidance of our faculty members. These all animation short films are being translated into 27 regional languages of India.

       5. A research paper “Changes in 3D Animation in India from Early 2010 to 2024” published in an International Journal of Graphics and Multimedia by Dr. Rishika Sharma, Asst. Professor and Miss Urshita Tandon, student-final year of M.Sc. Animation Design. 

     6. The animated stop-motion short film “Samvedana” was screened in the Animation & Multimedia Department. Film Director Abhilasha Bhartiya and Producer Swapnil Taank engaged in a discussion about the making of the film.

 

        7. Faculty members of Animation & Multimedia Dept. recently invited for a Calligraphy  workshop conducted by NCERT, New Delhi. 

  1.        Successfully completed the graphic novel- “Mera Mat Meri Jeet” by Mr. Gautam Goswami, Asst. Professor. This project was undertaken as part of a workshop conducted in collaboration with IIT Hyderabad and NCERT, New Delhi.

  1.         Dr. Vibhuti Pandya, In charge, A&M Dept. has been selected as a jury member for the Best Animation Film category at the Jaipur International Film Festival, JIFF- 2025.

International Collaboration

  1. Successfully completed an animated short film on “Contract Management” for Limpico SARAL, a France-based company.
  2. Successfully completed a graphic novel in French & English languages for City Palace & The Palace School, Jaipur.
  3. Successfully completed a graphic novel with IIT Hyderabad for NCERT, New Delhi.

  1. Inauguration of Graphic Novel- Chai Pe Croissant, Designed by the Students of A&M Dept. BIT Jaipur

Description:
In an exciting story of India and France sharing their cultures, a comic book called "Chai Pe Croissant" was released at a special event in the Sawai Man Singh Museum inside the beautiful City Palace of Jaipur. Students from the Animation & Multimedia Department at the Jaipur Campus of Birla Institute of Technology Mesra created this special comic book. The event had important people like Ms. Rama Datt, Trustee- Museum of City Palace, and Ms. Urvashi Varman, the principal of The Palace School. There were also about 18 students and 2 faculty members from France at the event. This special day showed how two different cultures can come together through storytelling and creative art. This comic book was planned by Mr. Sandeep Sethi, Director of City Palace, Jaipur, and Dr. Peeyush Tewari, Director of BIT Jaipur. It was designed and executed by Dr. Vibhuti Pandya, In-charge of the Animation & Multimedia Department at BIT Jaipur, along with faculty members & students. This comic book can be presented as a gift to the President of France, Mr. Emmanuel Macron, during his upcoming visit to Jaipur with our Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi.

2. Poster Making Competition
Coordinator: Mr. Gautam Kumar Goswami
Description:
A poster making competition on "Animation as a Booster to Mental Health" was conducted in A&M Dept. on the occasion of World Mental Health Day. Over 50 Students from B.Sc. A&M and M.Sc. Animation Design, participated in this event. The best entries were exhibited in the Drawing Studio for all the faculty members and students.

3. Animation Workshop on Road Safety for School Children
Coordinators: Dr. Vibhuti Pandya and Mr. Gaurav Chaudhary
Description:
An animation workshop focused on Road Safety, organized in partnership with the Muskaan Foundation, was successfully conducted. The event garnered participation from over 13 prestigious schools in Jaipur, with a total attendance of 30 students and 13 teachers. The workshop commenced with an inauguration by Director Dr. Peeyush Tewari, graced by esteemed guests including Dr. Mridul Bhasin, Trustee of the Muskaan Foundation, Mr. Sandeep Sethi, Director of City Palace, Mr. Shantanu Bhasin, Managing Trustee of Muskaan Foundation, and Ms. Neha Khullar, Director of the Muskaan Foundation. The proceedings were initiated by Mr. Gaurav Chaudhary (Faculty - A&M Dept.), who warmly welcomed and introduced all the guests. Dr. Vibhuti Pandya, (In-Charge - Animation & Multimedia Dept.), delivered a comprehensive departmental presentation. The faculty members provided training on the step-by-step process for creating Short Animation Films. Additionally, an exhibition showcasing animation designs was open for visitors to view during the event.

4. Launch of Graphic Novels on Road Safety

Description:
Muskaan Foundation hosted a significant Road Safety Programat Jawahar Kala Kendra. Dr. Peeyush Tewari, our esteemed Director, graced the occasion as the Guest of Honor. Captured within these photographs is the unveiling of Graphic Novels crafted by talented students from various esteemed schools in Jaipur. The event drew the participation of School Principals, Faculty members, school children, and enthusiastic college students. An exciting collaboration between BIT Jaipur Campus Animation & Multimedia Department and these schools aims to transform these insightful comics into engaging animated short films.

5. World Animation Day Celebration

Description:
The World Animation Day, commemorated enthusiastically on October 28, 2023, saw a vibrant celebration in partnership with TASI (The Animation Society of India), BIT Jaipur Campus, and two other collaborating institutions. Notable figures in the animation realm—Mr. Vaibhav More from Mumbai, Mr. Subhra Chakraborty from Kolkata, Mr. Aditya Chari from Pune, and Mr. Anand C'kar—graced the occasion with insightful lectures and case studies. Members of the faculty along with students from the Department of Animation & Multimedia actively participated in this event. As a result of its success, it was unanimously agreed to make this an annual affair.

6. Animation Demonstrations during Jaipur History Festival

Description:
The Department of Animation & Multimedia at BIT Jaipur actively took part in the Jaipur History Festival held from December 4th to 8th, 2023, organized by the City Palace, Jaipur. This engaging event witnessed the presence of more than 8,000 students from diverse schools and colleges. During this significant occasion, the A&M Department showcased an insightful demonstration, detailing the intricate step-by-step process involved in creating animation films.

7. Interaction with the Team Members of Colombia University, USA
Coordinator: Dr. Vibhuti Pandya
Description:

The Animation and Multimedia Department at BIT Jaipur is set to embark on the creation of two animated short films for Colombia University, USA. This collaborative project was solidified during a meeting held on December 13, 2023, with Professor Dr. Pam and the team from Colombia University at MI Road, Jaipur. The focus of these animated shorts will revolve around raising awareness about air pollution and the detrimental effects of trash burning. Specifically, the films will shed light on how this pollution significantly impacts children, capturing the gravity of its consequences.

8.  Workshop on Development of Animated Videos on Critical Life Skills, Collaboration with NCERT, New Delhi

Description:
NCERT, and Cell for National Center for Literacy, New Delhi, Govt. of India organized four workshops on the Development of Animated Videos on Critical Life Skills at Birla Institute of Technology Mesra, Off- Campus Jaipur. The faculty members and students successfully concluded the production of 14 animated short films focusing on Critical Life Skills. Currently, these films are undergoing the post- production process (Final Editing) and are scheduled for release soon, coinciding with the ULLAS Mahotsav organized by NCERT at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi.

 

9. Showcase of Animation Projects in 4th All India DIC Meet-24 at IIT Hyderabad

The Department of Animation & Multimedia participated in the DIC MEET-24 at IIT Hyderabad. During the event, we showcased our latest collaborative project with NCERT New Delhi, featuring a series of 10 short films on Critical Life Skills. 10. Research Presentations in the field of Animation & Multimedia during the ICCTMRI-2023

Description:
Conducted Research Presentations in the field of Animation & Multimedia during the International Conference on Contemporary Trends in Multidisciplinary Research and Innovation. Total 14 Papers selected for presentations. Also, Invited key note speaker Mr. Sunil Dutta from D-Neg Studio from London, delivered lecture on Recent Trends of Animation.

Some More Achievements 

  1. Dr. Vibhuti Pandya, selected as one of the Jury Member in Jaipur International Film Festival Awards & New Delhi International Film Festival Awards in Year 2021 & 2022.
  2. Ms. Joshita Sharma, Pass out student alumni of M.Sc. Animation Design, BIT Jaipur Campus Recently, she received a prestigious award “India Book of Record” for creating the largest National Emblem using thread and nails. She made a large size replica of the National Emblem of India, measuring 16 feet x 9 feet, on black painted plywood using strings of golden thread and iron nails portraying ‘Satyamev Jayate’ along with the Lion Capital of Ashoka, as confirmed on December 3, 2021.
  3. One of our student alumni (Chandan Singh) received a best runner up award in SSFF (Student short film festival 2021) organized by IDC, IIT BOMBAY. Out of 95 films only two films were nominated in the live action film category. 
  4. A pass out student (in Year 2021, June) - Archee Vijayvargiya, got selected in National Institute of Design (NID) with 5th Ranking in All India)
  5. A recently passed out student- Elvira Mishra got selected for higher studies in the prestigious university- Glasgow University in Year 2021 (Sept).
