Established in 2005, the Department of Animation & Multimedia at Birla Institute of Technology (BIT), Mesra – Off-Campus Jaipur, is among India's top animation institutes. Funded by UGC, our program aligns with the Government of India's strong emphasis on AVGC (Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming & Comics), a rapidly expanding sector in the digital economy. With globalization reshaping the film, television, and digital entertainment industry, the demand for skilled professionals in animation, VFX, and digital storytelling is higher than ever. At BIT Jaipur, we bridge the gap between art and technology, providing students with a world-class curriculum covering 2D & 3D animation, multimedia applications, and digital design.

Workshops & Collaborations
NCERT Collaboration – Developing Animated Short Films on Critical Life Skills
BIT Jaipur, in association with NCERT’s Cell for National Center for Literacy (CNCL), New Delhi, organized a five-day workshop focused on script development and animatics for animated short films addressing critical life skills.
Workshop Highlights:
- Participation of 3 expert members from NCERT-CNCL, all faculty members, and 50 students from BIT Jaipur.
- Created animatics for 10 animated short films covering essential life skills.
- Hands-on activities including script review, character design, sound selection, and animation planning.

Albelo Jaipur - A Celebratory Thesis Film
'Albelo Jaipur', a thesis film made in the Animation & Multimedia Department (2018), celebrates Jaipur's art, culture, and heritage. Using techniques such as Timelapse, Hyperlapse, and Live-action filmmaking, the film explores Jaipur’s diverse dimensions. It was officially selected in the following prestigious film festivals:

Achievements
At BIT Jaipur, we take immense pride in the outstanding accomplishments of our students, alumni, and faculty members. Here are some of our notable achievements:
- Sonam Shekhawat (Alumni): Recipient of the prestigious Emmy Award (USA) for Animation Writing. She has successfully scripted over 100 episodes of Chhota Bheem and contributed to various film projects as a scriptwriter.
- Dr. Vibhuti Pandya (Faculty): Selected as a Jury Member for the Jaipur International Film Festival Awards and New Delhi International Film Festival Awards in 2021 and 2022.
- Ms. Joshita Sharma (Alumni, M.Sc. Animation Design): Awarded the India Book of Records for creating the largest National Emblem using thread and nails. Her artwork, measuring 16 feet x 9 feet, showcases the Lion Capital of Ashoka with ‘Satyamev Jayate’ using golden threads and iron nails.
- Chandan Singh (Alumni): Runner-up at Student Short Film Festival (SSFF) 2021, organized by IDC, IIT Bombay. Out of 95 film entries, only two films were nominated in the Live Action Film category, and his project was among them.
- Archee Vijayvargiya (Alumni, 2021): Secured 5th Rank All India in the National Institute of Design (NID) Entrance Exam.
- Elvira Mishra (Alumni, 2021): Selected for higher studies at Glasgow University, one of the most prestigious institutions in the UK.
