Admission Process
The Welfare Department publishes advertisements for admissions in the second week of May in most of the popular English and Hindi daily newspapers. Applications are invited both online and offline. The last date for application is around the third week of June; however, it may be extended depending on the publication date of the results of CBSE, ICSE and JAC Board Examinations.
Admission to Diploma in Engineering
Admission to Diploma in Engineering is taken on the basis of Merit List which is prepared on marks secured by the candidates in the Class-X Board Examination in Science and Mathematics. For Lateral Entry to Diploma in Engineering, the merit list is prepared on the basis of marks secured by the candidates in the written test and personal interview (50% weightage), marks in Class-X Board Examination (20% weightage) and Marks in Class-XII Board Examination or ITI (30% weightage).
Candidates for Diploma in Engineering are called for counselling and document verification according to their rank in the merit list. The branch that will be offered to a candidate depends on the choice of branch indicated by him/her during counselling, his/her rank in the merit list and availability of seats in the particular branch under that category.
For Lateral Entry, all the eligible candidates are called for written test. After that the merit list is prepared and displayed on the noticeboard. The candidates are called for counselling and document verification according to their rank in the merit list. The branch that will be offered to a candidate depends on the choice of branch indicated by him/her during counselling, his/her rank in the merit list and the availability of seats in the particular branch under that category. A Lateral Entry candidate with Class-XII background is free to opt for any of the available branches. A candidate with ITI background can, however, opt for those branches which are compatible to his trade in ITI:

For both Diploma in Engineering and Lateral Entry, the names of all such candidates, along with the branch offered to him/her, are published on the website. If a candidate fails to turn up for admission within the notified Last Date, his/her candidature is cancelled, and the seat is offered to the next candidate in the queue.
Candidates are called for counselling and document verification according to their rank in the merit list. A seat is offered to the candidate opting to take admission to the programme. Names of all such candidates are published on the website. Eligibility Criteria:
- The candidate must be a resident of Jharkhand.
- He/she must have passed in Mathematics and Science.
- Minimum percentage of marks required in Science and Mathematics taken together (in Matric):

- Forwarding letter of ‘Mukhiya’ (only for Mesra Panchayat nominated candidates)
