The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, B.I.T. Mesra, Off-Campus Deoghar organized a six-day ATAL Online FDP on Innovative Trends in Data Science and Electric Mobility: IPR Opportunities and Challenges from 08th December 2025 to 13th December 2025. The Coordinator of the FDP was Dr. Deep Shekhar Acharya, Assistant Professor and In-Charge of the department. The Co-Coordinator of the FDP was Dr. Sonal, Assistant Professor in the department. The FDp was attended by 199 participants hailing from different states of the nation. The program concluded successfully with wide participation from academia, research, and industry, fulfilling its objectives of capacity building and innovation-driven learning. It featured a well-balanced mix of advanced technical sessions on electric mobility, smart grids, renewable energy, AI/ML, and emerging domains, complemented by industry-focused talks on EV testing and HIL simulation. Sessions on IPR, patents, and research commercialization enriched participants’ understanding, and the organizers acknowledged the valuable contributions of resource persons and the active engagement of participants.

The FDP was meticulously structured to provide a balanced exposure to advanced technical concepts and intellectual property awareness, aligning well with the objectives of capacity building and innovation-driven research.
The technical sessions focused on emerging and advanced themes in electric mobility, power systems, and smart energy technologies. The programme commenced with “Overview of EV Integration with Smart Grid” by Prof. Ramesh Bansal (University of Sharjah, UAE), followed by “Design of DC–DC Converters Using LTSPICE for EV Applications” by Dr. S. Shiva Kumar (BIT Mesra). Futuristic topics such as “Space Microgrids: Operation and Control – Present and Future Trends” by Dr. Baseem Khan (Hawassa University, Ethiopia) and “Application of AI/ML Across Industry Verticals” by Dr. Ravi Shankar (ISB) added significant depth to the programme. Industry-oriented perspectives were provided by Dr. S. K. Sahu (Magna Automotive India Pvt. Ltd.) through sessions on Electric Vehicle Testing and real-time simulation using Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL). The technical track was further strengthened by expert lectures on renewable energy integration, IEEE standards, resilient active distribution networks, and the growing role of photovoltaics, delivered by Prof. (Dr.) Tirthadip Ghose, Dr. Debomita Ghosh, and Mr. Utpal Kumar Sarkar (CMPDI, Ranchi).
Complementing the technical discourse, the IPR and patent-related sessions provided valuable insights into research protection, commercialization, and ethical innovation practices. Sessions on “Patent and Its Applications,” “IPR and Research,” and “Legal and Ethical Steps During the Start-up Journey” were delivered by Ms. Kajal Priya, Dr. Madhuranjan Vatsa, and Dr. Kumari Lipi, respectively, greatly enhancing participants’ understanding of the intellectual property ecosystem.
