Overview

Department of Computer Science & Engineering at BIT Patna has evolved as a front-runner in technical excellence, with its students competing with the best in industry.  We strive to provide overall holistic development of our students and faculty members in a synergistic manner.

Impetus is provided to hone up the skills of our students, scholars and faculties with continuous industry-academia interaction.  The department is enriched with the state-of-the-art high-end computing facilities with over 200 i7 computers, and is under direct supervision of BIT Mesra.

Conferences, Seminars, FDPs , and workshops in inclusive domains of Cloud-IoT, Cyber Security , Block chain, Generative AI, AI & ML, Network Administration, Intrusion Detection and Web designing by the department renders our pedagogy lucid.

• Departmental Centralized Computer Labs with 300 i7 computers with DELL R530 and DELL R220 Server connected to Gigabit Ethernet LAN to support multi user software.
• Audio-Video Conferencing system.
• Department caters to 24/7 Internet service with 500Mbps bandwith in the whole Campus through LAN.
• Internship programs with several Start-ups and IT companies.
• Software Packages like MS OFFICE, Microsoft 365, MS Visual Studio, MATLAB, ORACLE, Rational Rose and open source packages like Python, WEKA, Prolog

Research and Development

Faculties are actively engaged in research work and have published several research papers in reputed national and international journals. Moreover, authored book publications with reputed international publishers, edited books, book chapters, patents have also been published by the department. The thrust research areas are: Data Mining, Network Security, Database Management Systems Cloud-IoT, Cyber Security, Block chain, Generative AI, AI & ML, Network Administration, Intrusion-Detection, and Software Engineering. Students take up challenging projects under the guidance of the faculties and have won several prizes in national level software development competitions.

Industry interface

The department has active collaboration with various leading MNC’s like Microsoft, TCS, Mindtree, etc. Students have the opportunity of hands-on experience on various state-of-the-art technologies and executing some of the live projects through internships. Various workshops have been conducted in the recent past by companies and institutes like IBM, Nettech, etc.
