Overview
Computer science is concerned with the study of the hardware, software, and theoretical aspects of high-speed computing devices and application of these devices to scientific, technological, and business problems. The Department of Computer Science at BIT's Jaipur campus is well abreast of latest developments in the area of IT, software development and hardware design and regularly incorporates the same in its academic programmes.
The thrust areas for the department at present are the emerging fields of soft-computing and applications, Artificial Intelligence , optimization and control based software, mobile application development, high-level multilingual search, Data mining , Big Data Application, Cognitive Science & social networking etc.
The objective of various courses is to impart quality education through a curriculum in accordance with the challenging software needs of the industry and to provide excellent technical knowledge and computing skills .Based on excellent knowledge base and technical competence the students of the department have an impressive placement record. Many of graduates choose to join some of the best institutions of higher learning around the world, whereas many of them join the reputed IT and leading software industries such as Microsoft, Amazon, Oracle, Samsung, Verizon, D etc.
Infrastructural Facilities
The department has eight high-tech computer laboratories having over 400 machines of IBM, Compaq, Dell and HP connected to latest state of the art servers and core i7/i5 desktops. With the objective of giving the students adequate practical exposure, the department has latest versions of all required software. The software available for Computer Science courses are NetSim, ESET, MS-Office, Windows Server 2012, Rational Rose,Oracle, Auto Cad, MATLAB, C,C++,Java, Python, PHP.
The course curriculum and facilities are constantly updated to keep pace with the fast changes in technology. The department has well qualified and experienced faculty ,qualified at M.Tech & Ph.D levels. Apart from the regular academics ,department regularly organize summer schools and other training courses on the emerging fields of computer science. Students are encouraged to participate in various conferences/workshops to understand and explore the new areas of research in various domain. The eminent academicians and technology experts are invited to deliver lectures on emerging concepts and technologies for updating the vision , knowledge and skill sets of the students and faculty.
