The Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science (AI & DS) offered at the off-campuses of Birla Institute of Technology (BIT), Mesra is a multidisciplinary undergraduate program designed in accordance with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. The program equips students with the knowledge and practical skills required in the rapidly evolving fields of Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Science, and Analytics through a balanced combination of theoretical foundations and hands-on learning.
Students may choose to complete the program in three years and earn a B.Sc. in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science, or continue for an additional fourth year to obtain a B.Sc. (Honours) in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science. The Honours year provides opportunities for advanced coursework, research, industry internships, and project work, enabling students to develop deeper expertise and enhance their readiness for higher studies and research.
The curriculum covers core areas such as programming, data structures, algorithms, mathematics, statistics, database management systems, machine learning, deep learning, data visualization, big data technologies, artificial intelligence, and cloud computing. Students gain extensive practical exposure through laboratory sessions, industry-oriented projects, internships, and skill enhancement courses, preparing them to solve real-world problems using data-driven and AI-based approaches.
