The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering in B.I.T Mesra (main campus), is one of the largest departments of the institute having largest student and faculty strength. Due to its modern infrastructure and exposure given to the students, it is one of the elite departments in India. Department is running both Bachelor (Electronics and Communication) and Master programs (Specialization: Microwave Engineering, Wireless Communication, and Instrumentation).

The Department is running ASIA-LINK Program. This is a Euro-Asian Network for strengthening Graduate Education and Research in Wireless Communication (EAGER-NETWIC) between BIT and Aalborg University, Denmark.

In continuation of same spirit ECE department had started a Master of Engineering program (Specialization: Wireless Communication) – at extension centre, Kolkata in the year of 2012. The department has devoted and qualified expert team of faculty members, who are continuously, involved in various research activities.

Mission of the Department

1. To educate and facilitate the students with state of the art Education and Research at Post Graduate and Doctoral levels to meet the challenges  in engineering and managerial jobs in the field of Electronics and Communication Engineering.
2. To build national capabilities in Technology, Education and Research in emerging areas in the field of Electronics and Communication Engineering.
3. To create an environment to provide excellent Research and Development facilities to strengthen Ph.D. programs and Research Projects.

The students are exposed to varoius specialized software tools such as OPNET, IE3D, ADS, VLSI Design tool, Microwind 3.5, MATLAB ( with various toolboxes), etc.
