  1. Information about Computer Science & Engineering (CSE)Department

 Overview

Computer science is concerned with the study of the hardware, software, and theoretical aspects of high-speed computing devices and application of these devices to scientific, technological, and business problems. The Department of Computer Science at BIT Jaipur campus is well abreast of latest developments in the area of IT, software development and hardware design and regularly incorporates the same in its academic programs. The department has well qualified and experienced faculty, qualified at M.Tech. & Ph.D levels.

Apart from the regular academic activities, department regularly organize summer schools and other training courses on the emerging fields of Computer Science. The eminent academicians and technology experts are invited to deliver lectures on emerging concepts and technologies for updating the vision, knowledge and skill-sets of the students and faculty.

Research Interests & Thrust Areas

The thrust research areas for the department at present are the emerging fields of soft- computing and applications, Artificial Intelligence, optimization and control-based software, mobile application development, high-level multilingual search, Data mining, Big Data Application, Cognitive Science & social networking etc.

Infrastructural Facilities

The department has four high-tech computer laboratories having over 260 machines of IBM, Compaq, Dell, Acer and HP connected to latest state of the art servers and core i7/i5 desktops. With the objective of giving the students adequate practical exposure, the department has latest versions of all required software. The software available for Computer Science courses are NetSim, MS-Office 365, Windows Server 2012, Rational Rose, Oracle, Auto Cad, MATLAB, C, C++, Java, Python, PHP, R, Flex, Microsoft Visual Suit, Linux, ESET.

Overview

Electronics now days involve in all disciplines of engineering, it provides basic hardware support to Computer Science, basic control and display systems to all kind of instruments and mechanical and electrical machines. It is backbone of the entertainment and utility devices and gadgets. When it combines with communication, it brings miracle technologies in wireline and wireless connectivity and networking like; Satellite Communication, Mobile Communication, Optical Communication, Broad Band SDH & ADSL, Internet and Intranet, Wireless in Local Loop (WLL), Bluetooth, etc.

Research Interests & Thrust Areas

The department is looking forward to enhancing core skill set through research and development in the emerging technologies like; Communication Systems & Networks Software Defined Radio, Microelectronics & VLSI, Microwave & Millimeter Wave Circuits, Optical Networks & Photonics, Microstrip Antennas, Control & Automation, Signal Processing, Virtual Reality, etc.

The faculty and the students of the department has been constantly carrying out research on many cutting- edge technologies and regularly publishes in IEEE, Science Direct (Elsevier), Springer, Optical Society (OSA) and other top international journals and conferences. The department also undertakes research projects sponsored by both the government and the industry.

Infrastructural Facilities

The Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering in the institution conforms to the global scenario with its knowledge base, experience and infrastructure. It has excellent lab infrastructure in the area of Basic Electronics, Control System & Instrumentation, Integrated Electronics, Analog & Digital Circuits, Semiconductor & Microelectronics, VLSI, DSP, Micro- controller & Microprocessor, Analog & Digital Communication, Optical Communication, Microwaves and Antenna.

For research based projects and experimentation, high end test equipment and systems like Network Analyzer and Spectrum Analyzer, wireless sensor network, 4G VoLTE Trainer System, SENSEnuts wireless network, Micro tutor DSP Lab, IP Technology Network, etc are available in the Labs. To give students exposure to software based designing, the department has well equipped simulation lab having software simulation tools like CADENCE, TCAD, MATLAB, MULTISIM, COMSIM, Code Composure Studio for DSP, Lab view with ELVIS Hardware, HFSS Antenna Simulator, Xilinx's ISE Foundation for VLSI design, System Vue, Open IT Guru, etc

Overview

Electrical Engineering is a core engineering branch and called as mother branch from which Electronics & computer Science branches derived later on. As such the Electrical Engineering has great legacy of a pioneering engineering branch, and all   renowned technical institutions and Universities has very rich legacy of research and technological development in this domain. Undoubtedly, it deals with basic need of electrical energy, that is at core of all major technological development in the world, as such it has ever lasting scope of expert engineers and development.

Electrical engineering has greatly contributed to the advancements in electric vehicles (EVs). Engineers have focused on battery technology, optimizing energy storage and charging capabilities. Power electronics have been improved to enhance energy conversion and motor control, increasing EV performance. Integration with the electrical grid has led to smart charging solutions and vehicle-to-grid (V2G) technology. Wireless charging is also being developed for convenient and automatic EV charging. Electrical engineering continues to shape the future of EVs, making them more efficient and sustainable.

Research Interest and Thrust Areas:

The department is looking forward to enhancing core skill sets through research and development in various emerging technologies. Key thrust areas are Power Systems & Renewable Energy, Electric Machines & Drives, Power Electronics & Energy Conversion, Control Systems & Automation etc.   

Research in Power Systems and Renewable Energy focuses on the generation, transmission, and distribution of electrical power, as well as the integration of renewable energy sources into the grid. The aim is to improve the efficiency, reliability, and sustainability of power systems. Research on Electric Machines and Drives involves the design and control of electric motors and drives. The aim is to develop more efficient and high-performance motor systems for various applications, such as electric vehicles, industrial machinery, and robotics. Research in power electronics aims to design and optimize electronic devices and systems that efficiently convert and control electrical energy. Applications include power supplies, motor drives, renewable energy systems, and electric vehicle charging. Research in Control Systems and Automation focuses on the development of control algorithms and systems to regulate and automate various processes. It aims to improve the performance, stability, and reliability of complex systems, such as robotics, manufacturing processes, and power grids.

Overall, the aim of an electrical engineering department is to advance knowledge, innovation, and technological solutions in various subfields of electrical engineering, ultimately contributing to societal needs, industry advancements, and sustainable development.

Infrastructural Facilities

The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at BIT Jaipur campus conforms to international standards with its knowledge base, experience and infrastructure. The department has learned teaching faculty qualified at Ph.D. Levels. It has excellent lab infrastructure in the area of Control System & Instrumentation, Power Electronics, Power Systems, Electrical Machines, Transmission & Distribution of Electrical Power, Switch Gear and Protection, Basic Electronics, Integrated Electronics, DSP and Microprocessor. The department has well equipped laboratories and has software simulation tools like MATLAB, MULTISIM, LabView with ELVIS, My Power, ETAP, Ansys Electromagnetic Suite, Infoletica MagNet 2D etc. The department has various advanced testing facilities in view of the recent technological development like Power Quality Assessment (Fluke 434-II Energy Analyzer), battery Management (Fluke battery Analyzer BT521) etc.

Main Facilities:

Building & Campus: The institute is built up in about 10 Acre land (40000 Sq M). The built-up area is about 6700 Sq M consisting of 14 Class Rooms, 15 Laboratories, Computer labs with 495 computers, Mechanical Workshop, Seminar Hall, Common Computer/Internet Access Centre with 59 Computers, Library Hall, Canteen Hall, Indoor Sports & Gymnasium Hall (indoor -outdoor), Music Room, Student Rooms for Boys and Girls and Administrative block.

The institute has high speed optical fiber-based Wi-Fi facility throughout the campus for internet connectivity. Student facilities and academic blocks are fully Air-conditioned.

Lab & Equipment:

The institute has quality lab and software infrastructure. All required software and advanced lab equipment are available in the institute to conduct offered courses along with equipment required for Mechanical Workshop. There is a well-equipped graphics lab in the campus.

Faculty:

All the faculty members are well qualified and have a good research background. Faculty members have been selected as per UGC/AICTE norms and based on high merit standards of BIT, Mesra. All Selections are made centrally by Main Campus and the faculty are placed on regular basis in UGC grade as per 7th pay commission recommendations.

Student Activities (Technical, Sports & Other Extra Curricular Activities)

The institute has good facilities for various student activities that include annual sports, technical and cultural events. Three major annual events are organized every year for development of these aspects apart from Earth day, Foundation day, shikshak Parv etc. These are Vibrations (Cultural Event), TechVibes (Technical Events) and Cavorts (Sports Event). In addition to these, for technology exposure and professional grooming, the institute has following student forums; IETE student Chapter, CSI Student Chapter, Technical Clubs, Entrepreneur Cell, Girl up (International club), Drama club and Industrial Interaction Cell. For physical fitness of the students, the institution has a well-equipped Gymnasium. Eligibility Criteria

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA 

  1. Only those candidates whose date of birth falls on or after 1 October 1999 are eligible for admission. However, in the case of Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) and Persons with Disability (PwD) candidates, upper age limit is relaxed by 5 years, i.e. SC, ST and Persons with Disability (PwD) candidates who were born on or after 1 October 1994 are eligible for admission. Date of Birth as recorded in the Secondary Education Board (Class X, High School) certificate only will be taken as authentic.
  2. Candidate must have passed with minimum 60% marks in the final examination of 10+2 (Class XII), or its equivalent, referred to as the qualifying examination. Candidates with compartment are not eligible to apply for the program.
  3. Subject combinations required in the qualifying examination for admission to B.Tech. program shall be as under:

  1. The candidate must have appeared in JEE (Main) 2024 and should have secures a valid AIR (CRL Rank) in JEE (Main) 2024.
  2. Economically Weaker Section (GEN-EWS): As per the Govt. of India norms. Applicants will be required to provide the GEN-EWS certificate issued by the competent authority in the prescribed format on the basis of last financial year 2024-25. A certificate should have been issued on or after 1st April 2024. 

Notes:

    • Candidates with foreign diplomas should see the EdCIL website for equivalence (http://www.edcil.co.in), and if required should obtain an equivalence certificate from the evaluation division of the AIU (website http://www.aiuweb.org).
    • In case any Board awards grades instead of marks, the calculation of equivalent percentage of marks would be multiplied GPA/CGPA by 10 or based on the procedure prescribed by the Board.
    • Candidate must have adequate proficiency in written & spoken English to cope up with the programme as all instructions and examinations will be in English only.
    • At any level of the studies [Class X or Class XII], a candidate / applicant must have passed all the required subjects at that level from the same Board.

Application, Selection Procedure and Reservation Policy

HOW TO APPLY:

  1. To fill online application form, click on the link APPLY ONLINEto register for the programme and create password for the application process. Do not share the password with anybody. Please see instructions for filling online application form.
  2. Eligible candidates must complete and submit the application form online only [link available on the Institute website www.bitmesra.ac.in]. Pay application fee of Rs.1,500/- (General / OBC / EWS candidates) and Rs.1000/- (SC/ST candidates) through Online Payment Gateway (candidates may use Net banking / Debit card / Credit card of any nationalized bank) till the last date of application process. Fee once remitted shall not be refunded under any circumstances.
  3. The choices of branch must be filled-in carefully in prudential order since choices, once filled-in, cannot be modified after submission of application form throughout the counselling process.

Notes:

    • Candidates should proceed to fill the Online Application Form only after they satisfy themselves that they fulfill all the eligibility criteria.

LIST OF DOCUMENTS

VERIFICATION OF DOCUMENTS: Physical verification of documents will be conducted at a later stage after physical classes resume and students report on campus. In case if any information/document provided by the applicant online is found to be incorrect

/ inaccurate / false, the admission of such applicants is liable to be cancelled and all fees paid by the applicant shall be forfeited. Decision of the Vice Chancellor, BIT Mesra will be final in such matters.

    6. Admit Card and Score Card of JEE-Main 2024
    7. Caste certificate (if applicable), which should be in proper format and signed by appropriate authority of rank not less than SDO.
    8. Candidates belonging to other special category [Person with Disability / Kashmiri Migrant/ Economically Weaker Section (Gen-EWS)] must provide the certificate in proper format from appropriate authority.
    9. Photo identification: (Driving license, Passport, PAN Card, Aadhaar Card / Voter ID, School / College ID are acceptable)

SELECTION PROCEDURE

Provisional selections to B.Tech. Program will be made on merit:

  1. Based on All India Rank (CRL Rank) obtained by the candidates in JEE (MAIN) 2024. However, candidates must meet the age criteria and other minimum academic requirements [see eligibility criteria].

REFUND RULES

Candidates at any stage can request for permanent withdrawal from the Campus and initiate refund process of admission fee paid by them, a cancellation fee will be charged as per Institute norms. For details, please refer refund rules available on the Institute website.

RESERVATIONS:

  1. For all programmes the reservation criteria for OBC, SC & ST are as per the statutory norms of Central Govt. (OBC- 27.5%, SC -15% & ST - 7.5%)
  2. The Institute observes statutory reservation for Persons with Disability (5%).
  3. Upto 1 seat at all above may be allotted to the candidates who are Sons or Daughters of Kashmiri Migrant who otherwise have qualified for admissions.
  4. Upto 10% seats (over and above of sanction intake) are reserved for candidates belonging to Economically Weaker Section (GEN-EWS).

However, the final reservation proportion will depend on notification, if any, issued by competent authority and as accepted by the Institute.

Discipline

The Institute places a very high emphasis on discipline of students both inside and outside the campus. Students must abide by the Institute and agree to conform to the rules and regulations enforced from time to time. They must not do anything either inside or outside the Institute that will interfere with its orderly governance, discipline and image. Students must attend lectures, tutorials and practical classes regularly. A minimum attendance of 75% in lectures, tutorials and sessionals for each subject is essential for appearing in the Semester Examinations. Thus, students should attend all theory and laboratory classes from the first day of the academic year. In case of absence due to unavoidable circumstances, students are advised to take prior permission from the Dean / Head. In case of absence due to illness, students will have to produce a Medical report signed by attending Physician / Surgeon with an application from their parents or guardians. In such a case, parents/guardians should inform the authorities immediately. Students should strike a proper balance between extracurricular activities and academic requirements. A student’s participation in extra-curricular activities should not be allowed to interfere in his/her academic schedule.

During teaching hours, the main lobby, the library, the corridors of the Institute and the area surrounding the Institute are to be observed as silence zones. Students must not cause any disturbance/ obstacle in these zones. Students must not indulge in any kind of misconduct or indiscipline or anti- social activities within or outside the campus. Students must not form a group causing any hindrance to the academic and administrative activities of the Institute. Those found doing so will be punished and strict disciplinary action will be taken by the authorities. Students shall not damage the property of the Institute. Cost of such damage will be recovered from students, parents/guardians of the students.

Students must always carry their Identity Card and produce it on request. In case of loss or damage of Identity Card, the concerned authorities should be informed immediately.

Students are not permitted to enter and use the laboratory / workshop / sports ground if they do not wear appropriate dress. For example, they should enter the laboratory only with apron, cap or mask as instructed. Students should park their cycles in an orderly manner at the cycle stands. Students should follow the rules of the Canteen. Students are advised to read the Notice Boards regularly.

Students are strictly prohibited from possessing or consuming spirits, tobacco products and narcotic drugs either within or outside the campus, and if found violating this will be rusticated immediately, without warning.

Ragging in any form inside or outside the campus is strictly prohibited by law. Any students found ragging other students will be summarily expelled from the Institute and dealt with as per the directive of Hon. Supreme Court/Hon. High Court.

Each student must read the “UGC Regulations on Curbing the Menace of Ragging in Higher Educational Institutions, 2009” on the UGC website. Each student admitted to any of the Institute’s programs must submit the two completed affidavits [one from candidate and one from parents] at the time of admission. Medical

All selected students will be required to undergo medical examination by a Medical Officer of the Institute and their admission is subject to being found medically fit for the Program. Therefore, candidates, for their own satisfaction, are advised to get themselves examined by a registered medical practitioner.

Applicability of Regulations for the time being in force, Disclaimer and Legal Jurisdiction: In Force

Notwithstanding the nature of a program spread over more than one academic year, the regulations in force at the time a student joins a program shall hold good only for the examinations held during or at the end of the semester. Nothing in these regulations shall be deemed to debar the Institute from amending the regulations subsequently and the amended regulations, if any, shall apply to all students old or new, as specified therein.

Procedure for submission of Anti-ragging Affidavit [during admission]

How can fill Online Affidavits and Why?

  1. It is mandatory for every student and his/her parents to submit an anti-ragging affidavit at the time of admission. These are UGC’s regulations.
  2. It is the order of the Hon. Supreme Court that contact details of students must be collected from these affidavits and stored electronically at a central location.

It is a simple procedure comprising 3 Steps

Step 2: Fill in the information as desired and submit the form.

Step 3: On successful completion, you will receive affidavits, both for Students and Parents, through E-mail.

  • If your mother or father or guardian does not have a phone, or a mobile phone or email then please give the numbers / email of their friends or relations or neighbors.
  • If you do not have a mobile number, then please give the mobile number of your friend in the Institute.

After filling this form successfully, you will receive the Student's Anti Ragging Affidavit and the Parents Anti Ragging Affidavit in your Email. Please print both the Affidavits, sign them yourself, request your parents to read the details and request them to sign their affidavit and then submit both during admission.
