Rostra Day 1- The Night of Creativity

Rostra Day 1- The Night of Creativity

“Imagination is the beginning of creation. You imagine what you desire, you will what you imagine, and at last, you create what you will”

 – George Bernard Shaw

Truly, the opening night of Rostra’17 entertained and gave wings of imagination to the audience with a plethora of creativity. Be it through the mesmerizing Hindi poetry, or the innovative videos by the organizing team, or the multitude of wit shown by the many first timers up on stage. As V in the movie “V for Vendetta” said, “beneath this mask, there is an idea, Mr. Creedy, and ideas are bulletproof…” this display of ideas made this opening ceremony a specially crafted one.

Copy of IMG_8809Planning to start at 5:30 pm in the CAT Hall, the event started at 6:00 with a fair amount of audience, and Sarthak Sharma’s stand up comedy show, like always, set the mood with the audience enjoying it with loud laughter and cheering. This was followed by the stand up comedy show of a first timer, who tickled the funny bone of the audience with jokes about Indians’ over obsession about temples. By this time, the chief guest for the event, Mr. R.P. Sharma had arrived. He lit the lamp to declare the formal inauguration of the three day exuberance which will be  engulfing BIT.

Finally, the most awaited event of the evening, the “Kavi Sammelan” (poetry slam)  started, with budding poets of BIT up on stage with their self composed poetry. While the first poet Shashi Bhashkara started off with his beautiful description of the village lifestyle, the second poet Deepak decided to dedicate his love to all the fathers, who selflessly work for our benefit. Another poet Vickram presented his composition describing the feeling of loving a person, adressing it to all the single guys, who, despite Valentine’s Week, decided to attend this event.IMG_8759 Ankit Raj brought out the bipolar contrast to the mood that had been set up, by his composition about life, when one gets deserted and becomes alone. Finally, poetess Naina made us walk down the memory lane with her composition titled “P.M.C”. With friendly jibes by the fellow poets at each other, the event was completely lit.

The evening treat was not yet over. Shrey Dubey went up on stage with his stand up comedy act, where he tried to correlate our lives in BIT with the various games we play. The evening seemed to be completely lit up by the bright glimmer of creativity, which kept the audience hooked to their seats.

Truly, this evening was a beautiful prequel to what is about to come in the next two days. Special thanks goes to the organizing team for presenting such a beautiful evening So, BIT, unless you wish to miss more of such intricate jewels this spring, do attend Rostra’17 !
