LIVE JAM 6.1: An Entrancing Evening

Dhwani, the music club of BIT Mesra, came back with its annual extravaganza, Live Jam on 3rd September 2019. Awash with a pumped-up crowd, the evening witnessed various bands covering numerous genres of music from classical to pop, and from indie to metal. Boasting a plethora of scintillating live performances in line, the event opened up in IC Arena at 5:30 P.M. with Nandini Mishra and Mukul Choudhury as the hosts.

The band ‘9th Paradox’ opened up the show with a smashing version of “Geek Stink Breath” by the acclaimed band ‘Green Day’ and set the mood for the evening. After this, the band ‘Black Liquor’ knocked everyone’s socks off with a stunning rendition of “Aahatein” by Agnee, putting the crowd in a pacifying state.  Band ‘Alleyway’ then delivered a mesmerizing performance on the song “Papercut” by the iconic band ‘Linkin Park’. The zestful beats were enough to reel in the ardent rock lovers.  Following this, band ‘Fakaiti’ swayed everyone on the tunes of “Bekhayali”, with the audience singing along to the soulful lyrics.

Next in line, the band ‘Rewind’ put up a beautiful cover of Aerosmith’s “Dream On”, concocting a magical atmosphere. The beguiled attendees couldn’t help but gyrate to the fervent harmonies.  The band ‘Kshatriya’ then presented a medley of classical rendition of Bollywood’s biggest hits, comprising of KK’s one of the most romantic tracks “Labon Ko”. Following up, the penultimate band of the evening, ‘Plexus’ stole the show with a brilliant mashup of Bengali and Hindi songs ‘Mon Majhi Re’, ‘Sun le Zara’, and ‘Pichle Saat Dino Me’, showcasing a unique blend of diverse genres. To close out the show, the band ‘Fallin’ in Five’ set the stage alight with an ebullient mashup of English songs like “Lips are Moving”, “Havana”, and “Exs and Ohs“and ushered the crowd to a fever pitch of enthrallment.

With a group photograph of all the performers and announcement of names of new Dhwani recruits, the evening drew to an ecstatic end, inciting a slew of multifarious emotions. Breaking the monotonicity and satisfying the craving for soothing melodies and flawless euphonies, the members of Dhwani left no stone unturned proving yet again their prowess of belting out sonic perfections.
