Stepping to the tunes- Belleza’19

“The dance can reveal everything mysterious that is hidden in music, and it has the additional merit of being human and palpable. Dancing is poetry with arms and legs.”

-Charles Baudelaire

Dance is an art, wherein one expresses oneself through a series of movements adhering to a particular piece of music. Dancing represents happiness, contentment, victory, confidence and also celebration, of the feelings and emotions within oneself. To celebrate the spirit of Dance, the Dance Club of Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra, Ranchi organised its annual Dancing extravaganza, “Belleza”, on September 2nd, 2019 in the IC Arena. The event commenced at 5.30 P.M. with the crowd eager to be enthralled by the stunning saga of performances. The hosts for the evening were Swapnil Modani and Priyam Shrivastava. The evening started off with the felicitation of Nandini Dasgupta and Sana Khan, the winners of “Live in the 80s”, an online event which was conducted by the Dance Club.

The first performance of the evening was by Osho Barman, a student of the K18 batch, who performed an amazing solo performance. This was followed by a group performance by the Dance Club members of the K18 batch. They performed several popular dance numbers such as “Chamma Chamma”, “Deewana Tera” and “Hauli Hauli”. Next up, the Infection Crew set the stage alight with their impressive performance. They mesmerized the spectators with fantastically choreographed numbers like “Baby marwake manegi“, and “Bbhmm”. Up next, Sambit Singh of the K17 batch stole the show with another amazing solo performance.

To break the monotony of Bollywood music and contemporary styles, the Dance Club presented a dance recital on popular South Indian songs. Aman Singh, of K16 batch, was up next. His enthralling solo performance left the spectators awestruck. The grand finale of the glamorous evening was the group dance performance by the Dance Club members of the K17 batch. As the dancers captured the stage and danced to the tunes of songs like “Biba”, “Kamariya” etc. the audience too swayed to the music.

The evening came to an exhilarating conclusion with the DJ spinning popular tunes. As the audience put their dancing shoes on, the spirit of Dance in each and every soul awakened and rejoiced. With the successful completion of Belleza’19, the performers and the audience waited for the return of the event the next year, with great ardour.
