Birla Institute of Technology (BIT) is located at Mesra, about 16 kms from Ranchi, the Jharkhand state-capital. A hub of commercial and trade activities in Eastern India, Ranchi is well-connected to the rest of the country through regular flights from major airports as well as through well developed rail and road networks.

The BIT ‘more’ on National Highway 33 is a well-known landmark from where a tree-lined avenue leads one to the grounds that are always abuzz with young voices. The sprawling campus is located in a picturesque 780 acre setting at the confluence of the rivers Jumar and Subarnarekha. 
How to Reach Ranchi       
   
By Air - Ranchi is well linked to important airports in India, including Patna, Lucknow, Mumbai, Delhi and Kolkata. Ranchi airport is located at Hinoo, nearly 7 km away from the city centre. The nearest international airport is Kolkata.  
        
By Train - Ranchi railhead is well connected to important cities all over the country and falls under South Eastern Railway network. All the trains to Ranchi halt at either the Ranchi Junction or the Hatia Railway Station.

By Bus - The roadways leading to Ranchi have made the city easily accessible from different parts of the country. Ranchi is situated on the National Highway 23 and 33. The Jharkhand State Road Transport Corporation buses connect the cities within the state and there are also private and tourist buses plying on the route. Ranchi is well connected to cities like Patna, Jamshedpur, Daltonganj, Dhanbad, Gaya, Bokaro, Durgapur, Asansol, Rourkela, Cuttack, Siliguri and Kolkata.

Reaching BIT Campus
From Ranchi Railway station or from Birsa Munda Bus stand BIT campus at Mesra may be reached by private transport like autorikshaws, trekkers and taxis. BIT also runs buses from outside St. Xavier’s college at regular intervals.
