About myself

Dr. Sanjay Kumar Jha became a faculty member of BIT Mesra on March 4th, 1997, and currently serves as an Associate Professor in the Department of Production and Industrial Engineering. With an extensive teaching and research background spanning over 27 years, Dr. Jha has made significant contributions to his field.

In addition to his role as an Associate Professor, Dr. Jha has taken on the additional responsibility of Dean, Undergraduate Studies (DUGS) since January 1st, 2024. Prior to this, he served as the Controller of Examinations at BIT Mesra, Ranchi from January 1st, 2021, to December 31st, 2023. From May 10th, 2017, to December 31st, 2020, he held the position of Head of the Department of Production Engineering at BIT Mesra, Ranchi. Furthermore, he has also served as the Prof-in-charge Workshop from July 19th, 2010, to August 5th, 2014, and as the Admission Coordinator at BIT Mesra, Ranchi from June 18th, 2014, to May 9th, 2017.

Dr. Jha's educational background includes a Bachelor of Engineering in Production Engineering, a Master of Engineering degree in Automated Manufacturing Systems, and a Ph.D. in Engineering (Artefacts Manufacturing) from Birla Institute of Technology Mesra, Ranchi.

 His research interests primarily revolve around Artefacts/Brassware Manufacturing, Green Manufacturing, Friction Stir welding, Vibration-assisted shielded metal arc welding, Underwater friction Stir welding, Micro EDM drilling, and Productivity Improvement.

Dr. Jha has an impressive publication record, with over 125 peer-reviewed research articles to his name, including journal papers, conference papers, and book chapters. Throughout his career, Dr. Jha has received several accolades for his outstanding contributions. In 2005, he was honored with "The Outstanding Young Technocrat" award by the Chief Minister of Jharkhand during the national foundry day celebration. He also received the "Best paper" award at NCMCTC 2000 (National conference on manufacturing challenges in the 21st century) in IT-BHU, Varanasi for his research paper titled "Robotics and Manufacturing Automation." Additionally, he was recognized as the "Best Professor in Production Engineering Studies" at the 27th Business School Affaire.
