Dr. Sanjay Kumar Jha joined BIT Mesra on 04th March 1997 and is presently working as an Associate Professor in the Department of Production and Industrial Engineering. He has over Twenty-Seven years of teaching and research experience.

Presently Dr. Jha has been holding the additional responsibility of Controller of Examinations, BIT Mesra, Ranchi since 01st January 2021. He was Head of Department of Production Engineering, BIT Mesra, Ranchi from 10th May 2017 to 31st December 2020. He has also worked as Prof-in-charge Workshop from 19th July 2010 to 05th August 2014 and Admission Coordinator, BIT Mesra, Ranchi from 18th June 2014 to 09th May 2017.  

Dr. Jha holds Bachelor of Engineering in Production Engineering, Master of Engineering degree in Automated Manufacturing Systems and Ph.D in Engineering (Artefacts Manufacturing) from Birla Institute of Technology Mesra, Ranchi.

His research interests focus on Artefacts / Brassware Manufacturing, Green Manufacturing, Friction Stir welding, Vibration-assisted shielded metal arc welding, Underwater friction Stir welding, Micro EDM drilling, and Productivity Improvement. He has over 125 peer-reviewed research articles to his credit, including journal papers, conference papers, and book chapters.

He received “The Outstanding Young Technocrat” award in 2005 by the Chief Minister of Jharkhand during national foundry day celebration, “Best paper” award at NCMCTC 2000 (National conference on manufacturing challenges in 21st century) in IT-BHU, Varanasi for his research paper entitled “Robotics and Manufacturing Automation” and “Best Professor in Production Engineering Studies” award at 27th Business School Affaire & Dewang Mehta National Education Awards programme held at Jaipur on 1st July 2019.
