  Professional Background

Dr. Sumit Kumar is an Assistant Professor at Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra. He holds a Ph.D. (2022) and M.Tech. (2022) from IIIT Allahabad and has previously served as a faculty member at Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology and Bennett University.

His research expertise lies in Machine Learning and Face Biometrics, with a focus on multibiometric face recognition, thermal-visible image translation, occluded face recognition, and biometric security. He has published research in high-impact SCI journals and presented at international conferences.

In academics, he has taught Operating Systems, Machine Learning, Data Analysis & Visualization, and Design & Analysis of Algorithms Lab at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
