SPOT admission against vacant seats for BC-I / BC-II category candidates of Jharkhand State in B.Tech. and B.Arch. programmes at Mesra, for the session 2019-20, will be conducted as per the schedule given below.

Date of counselling: 5th August 2019

Reporting time: 10:00 AM

(No candidates shall be permitted to appear in the counselling beyond the schedule time)

Venue: Admission Office, BIT Mesra, Ranchi - 835215

Interested and eligible candidates should report for counselling cum admission, against vacant seats, as per schedule given above.

Candidates should please see below for details of the eligibility criteria, detailed list of certificates/ documents to carry at the time of reporting for counselling cum admission against vacant seats, and fees payable at time of admission.

Important Note: Candidates must belong to the BC-I / BC-II category of Jharkhand and should have passed their Class 12 / I.Sc. examination from the State of Jharkhand. BC certificate should be issued on or after 1st April 2018 (validity till Dec 2019) by a competent authority and countersigned by an officer not below the rank of S.D.O. of the State of Jharkhand [Certificate issued by an officer less than the rank of SDO will not be accepted and their application will liable to be rejected].

Eligibility Criteria:

  1. Only those candidates whose date of birth falls on or after 1 October 1994 are eligible for admission. Date of Birth as recorded in the Secondary Education Board (Class X, High School) certificate only will be taken as authentic.
  2. Candidate must have passed in the final examination of 10+2 (Class XII), or its equivalent, referred to as the qualifying examination.
  3. Subject combinations required in the qualifying examination for admission to B.Tech. & B.Arch. programmes shall be as under:

1. Language, 2-Physics, 3-Mathematics, 4- Any one of (Chemistry / Biology / Biotechnology / Technical Vocational subject), 5- Any other Subject

[Physics and Mathematics are as compulsory and one of the Chemistry / Biotechnology / Biology / Technical Vocational subject].

With at least minimum 75% marks in above subjects taken together.

OR

Candidates satisfies percentage top 20 percentile criterion*

 

 

B.Arch.

1. Language, 2-Physics, 3-Mathematics, 4- Any one of (Chemistry / Biology / Biotechnology / Technical Vocational subject), 5- Any other Subject.

A total of five subjects in which Mathematics is compulsory with minimum 75% marks in above subjects taken together.

OR

Candidates satisfies percentage top 20 percentile criterion*

* The candidate will have to produce a certificate from the respective Board, stating that he/she falls within the top 20 percentile of successful candidates.

Notes:

  • The candidates must have passed their Class 12 / equivalent from State of Jharkhand and should be BC-I/ BC-II category of Jharkhand State only. BC certificate should be issued on or after 1st April 2018 (validity till Dec 2019) by a competent authority and countersigned by an officer not below the rank of S.D.O. of the State of Jharkhand [Certificate issued by an officer less than the rank of SDO will not be accepted and their application will liable to be rejected].
  • Candidates should proceed to fill the Online Application Form only after they satisfy themselves that they fulfill all the eligibility criteria. 
  • In case any Board awards grades instead of marks, the calculation of equivalent percentage of marks would be as based on the procedure prescribed by the Board or in case, the Board does not prescribe any procedure, it will be GPA x 10.
  • Candidate must have adequate proficiency in written & spoken English to cope with the programme as all instruction and examinations will be in English only.
  • At any level of the studies [Class X or Class XII], a candidate / applicant must have passed all the required subjects at that level from the same Board.

How to apply:  

Interested candidates must report in person and submit the Application Form by 10:00 am on the day of counselling at the Campus with:

  1. Duly completed application form (The link for downloading application form is given below)
  2. Originals and a set of photocopies of all documents listed below
  3. Crossed Demand Draft for Rs 2,500/- (Non-Refundable) in favour of “Birla Institute of Technology”, payable at Ranchi.
  4. Use separate application form, in case applying for both B.Tech. and B.Arch. programs and pay additional application fee.

Selection procedures:

Provisional selection will be made strictly on merit based on Common Rank List (CRL Rank) in JEE (Main) 2019, against vacant seats, provided candidates satisfy the eligibility criteria of age and marks in Class 12 / Equivalent Qualifying Examination. [In case sufficient numbers of suitable candidates from any group are not available, the Institute reserves the right to fill the seats from the other group].

Candidates must report in person for counselling cum admission as per schedule given above. Provisionally selected candidates will be required to take admission by 5:00pm on the day of counselling, else their offers will liable to be cancelled.

List of documents to carry at the time of reporting for counselling:

At the time of reporting for counselling cum admission, candidates would be required to produce the following documents in original, as well as one set of photocopies:

  1. Completed Application Form
  2. A Demand Draft of Rs.2,500/- (non-refundable) towards application fee
  3. Admit Card of JEE (Main) 2019
  4. Score Card of JEE (Main) 2019
  5. Pass certificate of Class 10 (for age proof)
  6. Marksheet of Class 10 
  7. Marksheet of Class 12/ Intermediate or equivalent
  8. Pass Certificate of Class 12 / equivalent examination
  9. BC Certificate issued by a competent authority and countersigned by an officer not below the rank of S.D.O. of the State of Jharkhand and should be issued on of after
    1st April 2018 [validity till Dec 2019].
    Certificate issued by an officer less than the rank of SDO will not be accepted and their application will liable to be rejected.
  10. Certificate from Principal of School / College from where candidate has passed qualifying examination.
  11. Photo identification: (Driving license, Passport, PAN Card, Voter ID, Aadhaar Card and College ID are acceptable).
  12. Two passport size colour photographs, identical to the photograph uploaded in the application form
  13.  Requisite admission fee in the form of DD.

Total fees payable at the time of admission:

Provisionally selected candidates will be required to deposit an amount of Rs.1,49,000/- for admission to B.Tech. programme and Rs. 1,57,500/- for admission to B.Arch. programme (for detail, please see Institute website) by crossed demand draft in favour of “Birla Institute of Technology”, payable at Ranchi. The candidate may also pay the admission fee through State Bank Collect by using the net banking or credit card payment of any nationalized bank. For detail, please see Institute website.  No partial payment shall be entertained.   

In addition to the above, students will also be required to deposit Hostel Caution Money* (One Time only - Refundable) of Rs.5,000/- and suitable mess advance at the beginning of each semester, which will be adjusted against their mess charges. For the July 2019 session, this mess advance* will be Rs. 20,000/- [Total of Rs.25,000/-].

*Hostel Caution Money (One Time only - Refundable) and Hostel Mess Advance (each semester) are payable by crossed Demand Draft in favour of “BIT Welfare Society” payable at Ranchi.

Candidates are advised to come prepared to join the programme and attend the classes immediately after admission.

Admission is subject to submission and verification of original documents and certificates.
