Applications are invited from eligible candidates against few vacant seats in different categories as indicated below for the following full-time postgraduate programmes in M.Tech., M.Pharm., MUP and M.Sc. of the Institute, for the session 2019-20.

 How to Apply: 

  1. To apply for the above programmes against vacant seats, eligible candidates should register online and create password for the application process. Do not share the password with anybody. Please refer instructions for filling online application form.
  1. Eligible candidates must complete and submit the application form online only [link given below]. Pay application fee of Rs.2,500/- (General / OBC candidates) and Rs.1,500/- (SC/ST candidates) inclusive of GST charges through State Bank Collect (net banking / credit card of any nationalized bank) in favour of “Birla Institute of Technology” till the last date of application process. Fee once remitted shall not be refunded under any circumstances.  
  1. Candidates should proceed to fill an Online Application Form only after they fulfill all the eligibility criteria. 
  1. No individual intimation will be sent to the candidates and no list of candidates will be published on the website. It is therefore, candidates are advised to report at the campus (choice of place of study) as per date & timings mentioned above with completed application form, all relevant certificates and documents in original, and one set of photocopies of each for the test / counselling and verification of documents at the office of the respective Head of the Department at Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra, OR

Director of its Off Campuses: Candidates who are applying for the M.Tech. (ECE-Wireless Communication) at BIT Patna campus and M.Tech. (CSE) at BIT Patna & BIT Noida campuses should report for the test / counselling at the respective campus only.

  1. Candidates, who had applied earlier for any of the above programme but could not appear for the test / counselling or not selected, need not to apply again. However, they will be required to carry a copy of their old application form along with required documents / certificates as indicated below.

Note:

  1. The candidates can use one application form to apply for multiple courses within the Department, subject to fulfilling the eligibility conditions.
  1. Candidates applying for M.Tech.- ECE (Wireless Communication) and M.Tech. (Computer Science & Engineering) programmes may opt for multiple campuses in order of preference.
  1. Please use separate application form(s) to apply for two or more programmes such as M.Tech. (EE), M.Tech. (ECE), M.Tech. (CSE) etc.
  1. Candidates who have appeared for final examinations in 2019 can also apply, and if selected can join the programme provisionally. Provisionally selected candidates will be required to produce proof of passing their qualifying examinations with requisite minimum marks by 31 October 2019, failing which the provisional admission will be cancelled.

Documents to carry at the time reporting for test / counselling and admission:

Candidates must carry the originals of the following documents at the time of reporting for counselling and admission, as well as one set of photocopies:

  1. Original copy of Application form
  2. Proof of payment receipt towards application fee.
  3. Pass certificate of Class 10 for proof of age
  4. Marksheet of Class 10
  5. Marksheet of Class 12 / Intermediate or equivalent
  6. Certificates and marksheets of Graduation / qualifying examination

OR

*Marksheets upto pre-final year for appearing candidates of graduation / qualifying examination in 2019. They must bring a certificate in original from the Principal of Institute stating that:

  1. by 30 June 2019, he/she will have appeared for examination in all subjects required for obtaining his/her qualifying degree.
  2. He/she has obtained requisite marks or equivalent based on latest available grades / marks.
  1. Candidates with qualifications acquired through correspondence or distance-learning programmes must carry proof of pass certificate, marksheets of qualifying examination and approval of DEC (Distance Education Council).
  2. GATE 2017 / GATE 2018 / GATE 2019 Admit card and Score card for M.Tech. and MUP programmes (if applicable).
  3. GPAT 2018 / GPAT 2019 Admit card and Score card for M.Pharm. programme (if applicable)
  4. Caste certificate / special category certificate (if applicable) should be in proper format and signed by appropriate authority.
  5. GPA to Percentage Conversion formula duly attested by Head of the Institute/ Principal/ HOD (in case, procedure for calculation of percentage of marks not mention on marksheet).
  6. One passport size photograph, identical to the photograph uploaded during filling of online application form.
  7. Photo identification: (Driving license, Passport, PAN Card, Voter ID, Aadhaar Card, College ID, Employee Identification Card are acceptable).

Documents required at the time of admission:

If provisionally selected, candidates will be required to submit all the above documents in original (except the Photo ID) at the time of admission, along with the requisite fees.

*Provisionally selected candidates appearing for their final examinations in 2019 will be required to sign an undertaking at the time of admission on Non-Judicial Stamp Paper of Rs. 20/- to the effect that if they fail to obtain the requisite marks in graduation / postgraduation their admission will be cancelled.  The deadline for submission of mark-sheet / degree certificate is 31 October 2019, failing which the provisional admission will be cancelled. (Please refer Sec 10 of PG Information Brochure 2019 for format of the above undertaking).

Selection lists, along with procedures for admissions, will be notified a day after test / counselling, on the Institute website http://www.bitmesra.ac.in and Notice Boards of concerned Campus only. No separate intimation will be sent to candidates.

Selected candidates will be required to take admission by the dates given, at the Campus of selection by depositing admission fee** and required original certificates. No separate intimation will be sent to candidates.  

**Total fees payable at the time of admission:

  • M.Tech., M.Pharm. and MUP programmes – Rs. 1,41,500.00 for admission at Mesra and Patna Campuses and Rs. Rs. 1,28,000/- for admission at BIT Noida Campus
  • M.Sc. Geoinformatics and Biotechnology – Rs. 1,16,000.00
  • M.Sc. Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics – Rs. 92,500.00

All payments must be made online through State Bank Collect. For details, please go through the instructions given on the Institute website. [Candidate may use the net banking or credit card payment through any nationalized bank].

Hostel facilities are available at Mesra and Patna campuses. In addition to the above, students will be required to deposit Hostel Caution Money* (One Time only - Refundable) of Rs.5,000/-. They will also be required to pay suitable mess advance at the beginning of each semester, which will be adjusted against their mess charges. For the July 2019 session, this mess advance* will be Rs. 20,000/- [Total of Rs. 25,000/-] [Rs. 18,000/- for Boys and Rs. 13,000/- for Girls at BIT Patna Campus only].

*Mesra Campus: Hostel Caution Money (One Time only - Refundable) and Hostel Mess Advance (each semester) are payable by crossed Demand Draft in favour of “BIT Welfare Society” payable at Ranchi.

Registration of admitted candidates will be done a day before reporting for regular classes. Classes will commence from 16th July 2019.

The Institute also reserves the right not to offer a particular programme in case the number of students found to be eligible to be admitted is less than 30% in number.
