Few seats are vacant in B.Tech. and B.Arch. programmes 2018 in various categories (General, SC, ST and OBC of Jharkhand) at Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra, Ranchi, after seat allotment through the CSAB 2018 (Special Round). These vacant seats are to be filled through Institutional Counselling and Spot Admission.

Please see below for the eligibility criteria, how to apply, prescribed form and selection procedure etc.

  1. ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA: Candidates must satisfy the following eligibility criteria:
  1. Only those candidates whose date of birth falls on or after 1 October 1993 are eligible for admission. However, in the case of Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) and Persons with Disability (PwD) candidates, upper age limit is relaxed by 5 years, i.e. SC, ST and Persons with Disability (PwD) candidates who were born on or after 1 October 1988 are eligible for admission. Date of Birth as recorded in the Secondary Education Board (Class X, High School) certificate only will be taken as authentic.
  2. Candidate must have passed in the final examination of 10+2 (Class XII), or its equivalent, referred to as the qualifying examination.
  3. Subject combinations required in the qualifying examination for admission to B.Tech. & B.Arch. programmes shall be as under:

1. Language, 2-Physics, 3-Mathematics, 4- Any one of (Chemistry / Biology / Biotechnology / Technical Vocational subject), 5- Any other Subject

[Physics and Mathematics are as compulsory and one of the Chemistry / Biotechnology / Biology / Technical Vocational subject.]

With at least 75% marks and 65% in case of SC/ST/PwD candidates in each of the subjects.

 

B.Arch.

1. Language, 2-Physics, 3-Mathematics, 4- Any one of (Chemistry / Biology / Biotechnology / Technical Vocational subject), 5- Any other Subject.

A total of five subjects in which Mathematics is compulsory. Aggregate of 75% marks and 65% in case of SC/ST/PwD candidates in above subjects taken together.
  1. The candidate must have appeared in JEE (Main) 2018 and having following Common Rank List -CRL Rank in JEE (Main) 2018: [Paper-1 for B.Tech. and Paper-2 for B.Arch].

*The candidates must have passed their Class 12 / equivalent from State of Jharkhand and should be BC-I/ BC-II category of Jharkhand State only. BC certificate should be issued on or after 1st April 2017 and validity till Dec 2018, by a competent authority and countersigned by an officer not below the rank of S.D.O. of the State of Jharkhand [Certificate issued by an officer less than the rank of SDO will not be accepted and their application will liable to be rejected].

Notes:

  • Candidates should proceed to report for spot admission only after they satisfy themselves that they fulfill all the eligibility criteria. 
  • In case any Board awards grades instead of marks, the calculation of equivalent percentage of marks would be as based on the procedure prescribed by the Board or in case, the Board does not prescribe any procedure, it will be GPA x 10.
  • Candidate must have adequate proficiency in written & spoken English to cope with the programme as all instruction and examinations will be in English only.
  • At any level of the studies [Class X or Class XII], a candidate / applicant must have passed all the required subjects at that level from the same Board.

NB: Caste certificates must be in proper format and signed by appropriate authority of rank not below the SDO.

(B) HOW TO APPLY

Interested candidates must report in person and submit the Application Form by
12:00 Noon on 24th August 2018 at Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra, Ranchi, with:

  1. Duly completed application form for Spot admission (The prescribed form should be downloaded from the Institute website)
  2. Originals and a set of photocopies of all documents listed below
  3. Crossed Demand Draft for Rs 2,950/- (General/ OBC) and Rs. 1,770/- (SC/ST) candidates in favour of “Birla Institute of Technology”, payable at Ranchi.

 (C) Selection Procedure:

Provisional selections for each category will be made in merit based on CRL Rank in
JEE Main 2018 and also fulfill other eligibility criteria mentioned above. The provisionally selected candidates must satisfy the eligibility criteria given above, else the offers will be withdrawn.

The provisional selection list will be notified by 3:00 pm on 24th August 2018 and provisionally selected candidates will be required to deposit the fees and complete the admission formalities by 5:00 pm on 24th August 2018, failing which their admission offers will be cancelled, and vacant seats will be allotted to candidates next on merit from the waiting list. It is therefore recommended that candidates should carry the requisite fees in form of Demand Draft to be deposited at the time of admission. Further, no extension in time for admission shall be permitted.

(D) FEES PAYABLE:

The fees to be deposited at the time of admission are as below - both amounts by separate crossed Demand Drafts (For details please see Institute website).

  1. Institute Fees: Rs.1,38,000/- for B.Tech. and Rs. 1,45,500/- for B.Arch. programme including fees for the first semester, in favour of “Birla Institute of Technology”, payable at Ranchi.  and
  2. Hostel Caution Money and Mess advance of Rs. 25,000/-, in favour of “BIT Welfare Society” payable at Ranchi.

Note: No admission fee will be accepted by cash.

(E) List of original certificates & documents required during counselling:

Candidates should also carry four recent photographs identical to that used in their application form, as also JEE-MAIN 2018 Admit Card.

  1. Admit Card and Rank Card of JEE-MAIN 2018
  2. Pass Certificate of Class 10 as proof of date of birth
  3. Mark Sheet of Class 10
  4. Mark Sheet of Class 12
  5. Caste Certificate (if applicable) in proper format and issued by appropriate authority of rank not less than SDO
  6. School Leaving Certificate
  7. Migration Certificate
  8. Requisite Demand Draft of Rs.1,38,000/- for admission to B.Tech. programme and
    Rs. 1,45,500/- for admission to B.Arch. programme.

Provisionally selected candidates will be required to show / submit the originals of these documents at the time of admission.

Candidates are advised to come prepared to attend classes after completing the admission formalities. Classes for B.Tech. & B.Arch. programmes first semester have already been started.

Admission is subject to submission and verification of original documents and certificates.
