The admission to B.Tech program in BIT Mesra is through the JEE Main conducted centrally. The admission procedure is same as any NIT within the India. For admission to different M.Tech Programs, it is advertised once in a year normally during March (Monsoon session) in the website of BIT Mesra. The non-GATE candidates are required to appear a written test followed by a viva-voce examination whereas GATE qualified candidates are required to appear the viva-voce examination.  For admission to Ph.D Program, advertised twice in a year (Monsoon and spring session) in the website of BIT Mesra. The candidates are required to appear a written test followed by a viva-voce examination. Few selected PhD candidates will get Institute Research Fellow from the institute.

The admission to B, Tech program is online. After paying the required fees the student is advised to contact departmental ERP coordinators for online registration of the subjects [Mechanical Engineering Departmental Coordinators Dr. Paritosh Mahata (Mobile: 7607487861)]. In case of any difficulty student is advised contact Dr. S. Das (Dean Academic Coordination and admission, contact details available in the website).

 Due to pandemic situation it is expected that the mode of teaching is online at present. The time table for attending the class will be displayed in the website. In the time table subject name, teacher name and mobile number of the teacher is available. The platform for online teaching is Microsoft team. The student has to get the institute mail ID to register his name in Microsoft team. At the time of admission they will get the institute mail ID. In case of any difficulty they may contact the webmaster (mail id: webmaster@bitmesra.ac.in). There is procedure for creating username and password for Microsoft team which can be seen in website. In case of any difficulty they are advised contact Dr. Arkadeb Mukhopadhyay (Mobile: 7687849002) or Dr. Paritosh Mahata (Mobile: 7607487861). In offline mode the students are required to attend the class inside the classroom mentioned in the time table.

For fee payment time to time for different semester’s registration, the student has to visit the website at the time of registration and pay the fee online. For further detail they are advised to contact account section or Dean admission. After paying the fees they have registered for the subjects as discussed above attend the class as mentioned above.

The examination will be conducted online mode for online class. For online examination the student is advised to contact with respective subject teachers.

Student can see his/her result by login in ERP after the result published by the institute. The student is required to fill up online feedback form through ERP to see the results.

Student can change his/her branch after 1^st year result. An application form is published by UG Dean once a year on website. Students need to submit the specified application form with appropriate documents to Dean UG. The application will be processed and after that their names are notified separately in the website.

Students are advised to go for fresh registration through ERP system and for that they need to contact Dr. Paritosh Mahata (Mobile: 7607487861).

After published the result by the Controller of Examination, the grade cards are available in the respective department. Students can receive his/her grade card from their department by showing his/her identity card. In special case the grade card may be received by parents or authorised person through authorisation letter.

Students can go for summer and winter internship by applying a specific format available in the department or the format provided by the concerned industry through the departmental co-ordinators (for UG. Dr. Richa Pandey and for PG Dr. Praveen Mishra). Contact details are available in the website. The students are allowed for internship only in the vacation. Students may do their final year project (B.Tech/ M.Tech) in any reputed industries/Research organisation/Ranked Institutions during their end semester after getting due permission from the HoD.

In general change of section is not permitted. In special case, the student may apply for it to the Dean UG through HoD Mechanical prior to the registration of a particular semester. After receiving due permission from Dean UG then only the application will be processed by the departmental ERP coordinators (Dr Paritosh Mahata)

For academic related issues, student is advised to directly contact to the Mechanical HoD through mail/telephone/personally.
