  Current Sponsored Projects

Worked on the following projects

  1. EAGER-NETWIC Project

EAGER-NETWIC project of ASIA LINK programme of the European Commission aimed at establishing a world-class academic network of Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in the field of Wireless and Mobile Communication in European Union (EU) member states and in Asia.  The five partner universities of the EAGER-NETWIC project included (1) Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra (India), (2) Aalborg University (Denmark), (3) Delft University of Technology (Netherlands), (4) University of Roma Tor Vergata (Italy), and (5) Institute of Technology Bandung (Indonesia). I worked as a key person from the Indian counterpart to maintain collaboration among the partner universities of the EAGER-NETWIC project (2003 to 2006).

This project resulted into establishing an International Centre for Wireless and Mobile Communication (ICWMC) in department of ECE, BIT Mesra in 2003. I was appointed as coordinator of the ICWMC. Department started M. Tech. program in Wireless Communication in 2005 under ICWMC. ICWMC also started a Double-degree M.E. programme in Software Defined Radio (SDR) in association with the Centre for TeleInFrastructure, Aalborg University, Denmark.  This programme was discontinued after one year.

  1. Spectrum Sharing for Next Generation Wireless Communication Networks

I was a contributing member of the project on “Spectrum Sharing for Next Generation Wireless Communication Networks” at Radio Access Technology Section, Department of Electronic Systems, Aalborg University, Denmark, during August 01, 2007 to June 15, 2009. The goal of the project was to research Innovative Spectrum Sharing & Flexible Spectrum Utilization opportunities and technical solutions for IMT-Advanced, using Long Term Evolution (LTE) Release’8 as a system reference. Solutions could suggest both evolutionary and revolutionary steps to LTE Release’8.

  1. Long Term Research

Contributed to several internal technical reports and deliverables for Nokia Siemens Network, Aalborg, Denmark on several topics including : Review of Long Term Evolution (LTE) Release’8 to identify Flexible Spectrum Usage (FSU)/Spectrum Sharing hooks and bottlenecks, Investigation of Centralized/Decentralized Spectrum Control Strategies, Advanced Spectrum Load Balancing Algorithm for Long Term Research, LTE Release’9/LTE-Advanced Flexible Spectrum Usage scenarios and light simulation tool, Flexible Spectrum Usage concept proposal for LTE-Advanced and Advanced Spectrum Load Balancing Algorithm : improvement and extension to power domain.

Contributed to the following 3GPP Standardization Activities (as an outcome of the projects)
