Overview

The Department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering is dedicated to the current needs of industry with the flexibility to tune its programmes according to different requirements. Application of new technology in various fields is one of the main focuses in the activities of the department. Department of EEE has recently received grants amounting to Rs. 2.7 Crore from UGC, DST, AICTE,CDAC, TEQIP etc. to strengthen the research facility for the development in the domain of Smart Grid and Energy Efficient Electrical Motor Drives. Department of EEE has MoUs with University of Padova, Italy and with other Industries. Center of Bio-Medical Instrumentation associated with the Department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering also offers PG programs in Bio-Medical Instrumentation.
Partnering the People of Jharkhand
The BIT Electrical & Electronics department is proactively involved in training rural people in the area of ‘Maintenance and Repairing of Electrical System’ and ‘Maintenance and Repairing of Household Appliances’, in collaboration with the Department of Welfare, Govt. of Jharkhand, to qualify them for self-employment by enhancing their technical skill.

Undergraduate Programme
The Department has a B.E. Programme in Electrical & Electronics Engineering.

Postgraduate Programmes
The Department offers Masters in Engineering in Electrical Control Systems, Power Systems and Power Electronics. Recently new courses in the areas of Neural Networks, Fuzzy Logic Control, Genetic Algorithms, Information Technology and Advanced Microprocessor interfacing have been introduced at post graduate level. They are currently being percolated to undergraduate level too.
The Department is planning to introduce new P.G. Courses in Instrumentation, Power Electronics & Drives, and Electrical Machines shortly.

Doctoral Programmes
Currently a number of Ph. D. scholars are working in the areas of non-stationary signal analysis, intelligent control techniques applied to automatic generation control and non-linear dynamic systems, development of new architecture for neural networks, phasor measurement units, wide area monitoring system (WAMS), image processing etc.
