Overview
 The Department of Biomedical Instrumentation was set up with the objective of being abreast of latest developments in contemporary technology in all life saving procedures. To fulfill the gap in this area, the institute has started a postgraduate programme in Biomedical Instrumentation that aims at imparting in-depth knowledge to students with live exposure to the use of sophisticated medical equipment. This programme is conducted in collaboration with the B.M. Birla Heart Research Centre, Kolkata, and with assistance from Advanced Diagnostic Centre, Ranchi and Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences, Ranchi.

Postgraduate Programmes
The Institute offers a Masters in Biomedical Instrumentation, the main objective of which is to impart knowledge of all possible applications of Biomedical Instrumentation, its technology, its use and intelligent operation to assist physicians and surgeons.

The department currently offers Ph.D. programmes in the following specialized fields –
