Overview
 Established in 1955, the Department of Applied Chemistry supports undergraduate, postgraduate & Ph.D. programmes offered by the Institute in both pure and applied chemistry. Promoting interdisciplinary environmental research, teaching and service activities within the organization, the Department is also actively involved in promoting environmental awareness amongst the tribal and rural population in Jharkhand. The Department is committed to high quality research programmes supported by UGC, DST, AICTE, UNICEF and World Bank and major thrust areas of research activities include – Organic & Medicinal Chemistry, Environmental & Inorganic Chemistry, Materials & Computational Chemistry
Postgraduate & Ph.D. Programmes
Pure and Applied Chemistry courses for undergraduate as well as postgraduate students are imparted by the Department. A postgraduate programme (M. Sc. in Applied Chemistry) [Contact: appliedchemistry@bitmesra.ac.in] is running with multidisciplinary aspect along with the introduction of new dimension of chemistry. The overall course curriculum and student activity encourages student interest in advance research, higher studies and its industrial prospects. The department is also involved in running multidisciplinary postgraduate programme in Environmental Science and Engineering.
